Man Nearly Died by Shipping Himself to Girlfriend (As a Romantic Gesture)
AsiaOne ^ | Tuesday, Sep 04, 2012

A man from Chongqing in Southern China nearly suffocated to death after a romantic gesture to his girlfriend went wrong.

Mr Hu Seng had asked his friend to tape him into a box so he could ship himself via a courier service to his girlfriend, Li Wang.

However, the romantic gesture turned into a life-threatening event for Mr Hu when the courier company mixed up the address with another delivery.

The 30-minute wait turned into a three-hour ordeal for Mr Hu.

The material of the box was reportedly too thick for him to make any breathing holes while inside and he did not want to spoil the surprise by calling for attention.

When the box arrived at Li Wang's place, his friend was poised to record the event.

However, they found Mr Hu unconscious and looking pale upon opening the package.

Subsequently, paramedics were called over to her apartment to revive him.

He admitted, "I didn't realise it would take so long."

The courier company said they would not have accepted this delivery if they had known there was a person inside.

The spokesperson said that even for animals, a special container would be used so they can breathe properly.

"Time flies."

That's a common misperception. As Ray Kurzweil will assure you, societal progress, the march of science, do not keep an even measured pace.

It's an acceleration. What used to take a hundred years or more now happens in months.

Time, to be more mathematically accurate in our description, falls.

Good explanation. If you have a rough time keeping ahead of reality, imagine the challenge John Semmens faces!

Yes, it is he of whom I speak, the heroic figure attempting to write parody of the Obama administration.

I have a prediction to make. A prognostication that, like any sensible prophet, I will stipulate to occur beyond my lifetime.

Hmm. Maybe not. I have no plans to go anywhere just yet.

Well, I’ll take a stab at it anyway. Within twenty years, (which theoretically allows it to arrive within my lifetime), we will have the equivalent of computer printers that produce ...

No, not food.

No, not body parts. (Heck, we have that now! Stop interrupting!)

,,, medicine.

...

You know, like pills and things. A computer printer that will lay down, layer by layer, the constituent parts of the medicines that you may individually require.

That should save some money, right?

Well, ahem, a certain industry is not going to be pleased about this.

If you think the recording industry is upset about people sharing music files, just think how the pharmaceutical industry will react to people being able to share medical blueprints.

Well, I’m sure they’ll work that out.

So, November 17th, 2029, look for the announcement.

Bet you a nickle that I’m right.

Bob, will it make little blue pills? If it will I have to make to at least 2050.

Thanks Bob. Am cutting it out of the screen. Will use it later after eating. Want to have fresh breath for (heck can’t talk about that). I’ve got to go setup the billiard table and chalk up the pot passers. Eating possum is one of those special occasions like having Thanksgiving and Christmas all rolled into one. There’s nothing like possum fer supper. Nothing goes to waste.

"Bob, will it make little blue pills? If it will I have to make to at least 2050."

Of course. Any medicine now known will be available through this technology.

One of the techniques used to do DNA research allows DNA strings to grow the next section from a soup of ingredients. In a similar manner, a matrix of precursor rods will collect and synthesize various chemicals in a very-micro format.

The clever part of the programming will be the manner in which the appropriate medical components are collected and packaged in the familiar time-release manner.

This avant-garde technology will be seen as miraculous, but the miracle will be short-lived, as even newer procedures will internalize within the human body its own chemical factory for effusing the needed medicines. It will be as if we have a new biological organ.

This newer organ will be programmable, to deliver various synthesized medicines at different stages of the patient's life, to maintain health for a lifetime.

This is an absolute medical marvel, and great news. Am thanking my lucky stars; was able (or pray to be able) to see this. My body needs medication on the order of once a day presently. Once things become worse, and the necessity increases, it is wonderful to know medical science has almost made all which is necessary for medication to be possible. Those little blue pills are lifesavers. Have one as often as is possible. The little blue pill brings a certain area into focus. Never dreamed would be looking at being self medicated by a new organ by 2050. Bob you have given me hope to look forward to change.

Is there any chance 0bama will not be covered and he will not receive any medication or the new organ? May I request this be put in an executive order? Cause I'm voting Bob for President. Oops, am thinking of the wrong election. Sorry Bob. Hey, you do know Mitt though, I bet. Could you put in a word about an executive order? It would secure my vote for you, the next time Elizabeth lets you run.

I’m not that Bob.

I’m a poet. I would need permission from NicknamedSue to run for political office, and neither the permission nor the run would be forthcoming because of certain matters in my lurid past.

Bob, I believe you, but my spouse doesn’t. My spouse said until I see the poetry am going to not believe. My spouse said Sue is short for Elizabeth. Don’t ask me to explain. I know not where that came from. Still is saying Sue is short for Elizabeth. Wait, there is more. Oh, code name. Saying past code name was Sue for Elizabeth. Don’t ask me where that came from. My spouse is with the government. Always tells me, I am here to help. Then all heck breaks loose. Bob, my apology, I believe you.

"Bob, I believe you, but my spouse doesn’t. My spouse said until I see the poetry am going to not believe."

As Long As I Live

In one of my first adventures,
I traveled as a fox,
I then became a cat or two,
(I think outside the box!)

Of course, back in my caveman days,
So much I did not know!
The warm inviting firelight,
The cold, warmth-drinking snow.

As Robin Hood, my Merry Men,
Could entertain me well,
In hidden bowers of the wood,
Where I and they did dwell.

I didn’t like the dying,
But that’s a part of life.
You take the bitter and the sweet,
And struggle with the strife,

For this is why you’re living,
Here in the folded lands,
The flat landscape that opens up,
Uncovered by your hands.

Transferring wisdom through those funnels,
You call eyes into your head,
To give you memories of past lives,
As gifts of what you’ve read.

For now the thousand lives I’ve led,
Inure me to some pain,
Those joyous friends I will not see,
Unless I read again,

Yet still they wait, on dusty shelves,
For other eyes than mine,
Like goblets for the next to taste,
Their own first sips of wine.

Am impressed. Spouse has walked away. It is always fun to put one over on my spouse. LOL

Will pay for this later, though was worth it. Thanks Bob.

And for now it is one must digress,

Has come the time one must confess,

the words don't rhyme, the thoughts are not thought

There comes a moment when all is for naught.

Oh such little time to make things right,

Life is uncommon, A first, A sunrise, A night.

When one looks back, the thought will be,

Lord have mercy, why did I not see that tree?

Sometimes I stay up late. Sometimes I rise early. It can be strange.

The Hours I Keep

My life is filled with treasures,
Rainbows, sunsets, lovely flowers,
Each I see as one more gift,
To set among my trove of hours.

Minutes stolen here and there,
Pondering the ways,
Glimpses of a bright tomorrow,
Mounting up to days.

Times I’ve taken stock of things,
Reckon I’ve done well.
Interest paid on gathered scents,
A fortune when I sell.

There will be an accounting,
Before my final sleep,
In minutes I’ve recorded for,
The hours that I keep.

Thanks Bob. As from my first attempt at true poetry, one can surmise am not a poet. Some of your poetry reminds me of a long deceased cousin who wrote words of prose. She was published once or twice. I never took prose seriously, as is easy to see, based on what I placed out there. Yours is good, sincerely.

Practice makes a difference.

But the important thing is to have a message. Among other things, I like books.

For me, poetry is about capturing and expressing an emotion, and often, giving someone a view they may not have considered.

It also gives me a chance to recycle old jokes.

You never know. I try to keep it fresh.

Tune In Tomorrow

When you go into a theater,
To stumble to your seat,
You hear the music starting,
And know you’ll have a treat.

That is just exactly,
The way I feel each day,
When morning has arisen,
And birdsong starts to play.

The shuttered light is showing,
The screen attracts my eye,
The scrolling credits roll across,
A brightly colored sky.

As every day the show begins,
I sit back and enjoy,
The special scenes and music;
The methods they employ.

Who would have thought a cricket,
Would be a music source?
Yet when the light goes down again,
The stars are shown, of course.

They wryly wink, and stately stroll,
Across the up-built stage,
Where generations of my folk,
Have watched throughout the age.

Somewhere there is a Writer,
Producer and much more,
I’m tuning in Tomorrow.
Who knows what lies in store?
