I'm buying this viewer's comment:

"In fact, the ship was built in 1919 and was called 'The Rachel.'. She sank during a storm around 1930, while carrying a load of lumber. The ship was looted of it's cargo and set afire. What is left is the skeleton that will once again be covered by sand and surf until the next hurricane."

i too recall a “blockade runner” being washed up or uncovered a few years back.

The photo upthread is certainly consistent with the “set afire” story. That’s what would remain of a wooden ship that burned to the waterline.
