How did the lead get in there in the first place?
Nobody seems to be saying.
Some cast candy molds are made of lead. I believe (and I could be a little bit off) the FDA’s max contamination for lead is .1 part per million in food. Rubbing anything porous against a lead surface will get you at least that much.
