NYPost knows 38th Street is not Times Square.

why did the cops get so close that his knife was dangerous? Yes, he must have continued walking south on 7th and there was no way to clear the streets and sdidewalks fast enough. And no fast way to disarm him without getting close or shooting him. He was approaching 34th street and 7th a very busy & crowded intersection.

I saw shots of him that were taken at 42nd St. - near the police headquarters (the old recruiting station location) - so he definitely was in Times Square. It didn’t look like he was in the old garment district. My husband and I thought he was closer to 6th Avenue at one point.

And, believe me - to other posters - if you are walking down one of those streets - you do not want to have a large, crazed, high-as-a-kite man with a Ikea chef’s knife behind you. Good for the cops.

They may have chased him down to 38th Street, but the picture with this story shows the cop to be on 7th Avenue between 43rd and 44th. I know this because my office building is in the background of this picture.
