As you said you are an agnostic I have to ask you this question. Since you doubt God then all emotions and feelings can be boiled down to simple chemical reactions in the brain. If this is true then the purpose of sex is to gurantee the survival of the species. Since two males or two females cannot reproduce then you must admit that they are either denying their natural drive to create or are mentally or physicall ill. If this is true then is it not inhumane to not treat them, or even worse encourage their ill behavior?

Bad summation. Agnostics don't "doubt God", they are just not sure. Atheists are the those who "doubt" a supreme being. Most of us agnostics hope for something behind the "big bang". Nobody knows, no matter what is written in words by various prophets. I personally believe in "divine design".
As for you chemical theory including procreation, well, humans have emotions, including empathy and sympathy. Those two emotions alone should be enough to not do unwarranted harm to others. I'm not sure there is a Biblical god (again, there may be), but I have enough empathy as to not want harm on others and also because I don't want the same harm to come to me or my loved ones.
Whether we came from a microbe in the seas, or from a tree in a garden, or from the microbe that was designed to evolve, my feelings wish no harm on others, unless they "trespass" on my superior species rights. And yes, we are superior no matter how we got here.

Yes, I can be an agnostic and still see what works for civilization. I firmly support Christians and Jews (except liberals) and the State of Israel. I served 11 years in the US Navy during the "cold war" to defend Israel and other peace-loving nations. I am 62 years old and I know what works and what doesn't for mankind. Age provides perspective.
