A couple in our homeschool group is having a home study done to qualify as potential adoptive parents, and they emailed the group asking for “an old-fashioned telephone, that plugs into the wall and has that twisty-cord connecting the handset to the base.” It is required, apparently, to have one of these in order to qualify as adoptive parents. Someone emailed them back saying they had one, which they’d bought at an antique shop for the same purpose.

Only last week there was news of a baby lucky to be alive after having its throat cut and then put in a plastic bag and thrown in a dustbin at Anshan city, in northeast China’s Liaoning province.

The same things now happen here, and we have less excuse having had more light and less poverty.

I have picked up dogs and cats from the side of the road all my life but my 3 children were adopted from adoption agencies. I can't imagine how it would feel to find a human infant in the trash. China must be a real hell hole!
