I may have an opportunity to purchase a Springfield XDM 3.8 in 9mm to replace all my other firearms which I lost in an unfortunate boating accident. Does anybody here have experience with this firearm, and if so, could you give me your impressions.

It’s a very good choice, you will like it.

To each their own. In any caliber I believe the XD is a fine choice.

Thanks for the suggestion but I’ve already tried that. I’m not a big user of the SWC bullets anyway so it’s no big deal to me. My buddy uses them because they’re cheap to reload with. I let him shoot it and he loaded a couple of mags with his hand loads.
So now I know to feed that pistol what it likes. LOL

If it were me, I’d buy a cz-82 and use the left over money to buy ammo.

It is a great pistol with a trigger that sucks big time. Saying that I am a gun smith and I carry an XD40 subcompact every day. It is my first choice of all the handguns I own.
I solved the trigger problem with a Powder river trigger kit. It now has a DA trigger with hardly any take up or over travel that breaks cleanly at 2.75 lbs. Great gun but the factory trigger is really bad. Invest the next hundred bucks and make it right. It will end up feeling better than the Glocks.

Makarov is larger. Theory being their weapon will fire our ammo but not vice versa. Would only be tried in extreme circumstances where logic and reason have left the building.

I have the XD in 9mm. Shoots great, it has been reliable and absolutely no complaints. The change I made to it was I installed XD sights. I do prefer my Sig 229, but I have no complaints with the XD.

One of the best handguns ever made. Looks like the prices are starting to creep up on them though...

I’ve heard nothing but rave reviews on the new XDMs. I’ve been considering one or two. Sadly, I’ve also lost everything due to a canoe tipping over. The Sabine has claimed the collection.

It was a big problem in Canada a few years ago. I understand that more recently, some of the Canadians managed to recover a few of their missing firearms.
You have to be really careful in a canoe with all this Global Warming going on. I’m afraid the problem is going to get worse.

Shot the Springfield XD last weekend. Shoots very well with very little recoil.
It will be my next weapon purchase.

I recommend the Walther PPQ. Its got the best trigger out there, its striker fired, racking the slide preloads the trigger, its got a 5lb. break, a 0.1 inch reset on every shot, no grit or stacking. The German made fit and finish
are hand selected and fitted. You should be able to buy one
for approx. $550 with 2 15 rnd. mags.
Its accuracy and shot to shot speed are ahead of the rest.
Its got a 4 inch barrel, and has the same tuff coating as used in The Glock, same safety setup as Glock too.

Get the XDM .45, if you can find one. They’re hard to get which says alot about them. My son bought one at a gun show last month , really likes it. He also has the XD.40 but prefers the XDM
