hunters back in the day regularly used an atl-atl to toss spears at wild deer ~ they were very successful at it.

Roman chariot, perhaps? The early Croats didn’t have much for horsepower.
I had a friend with a Yugo once; it might have been able to run over a crippled chicken on a good day.
