[I still care]

I’ve been watching “How the Universe Works”. It’s absolutely eye opening.

I have a pretty good scientific knowledge but this series has been blowing me away. I highly recommend it, especially if you have a nice TV to view the incredible graphics.

For the first time I am starting to understand what they mean by the concept of dark matter, dark energy, etc. I did not know before that galaxies were formed by black holes. It’s really good.

I agree, this is a great show - I’m not sure I like Season 2’s narrator as he has an annoying metrosexual lisp, whereas Season 1 had a more nonchalant narrator with an almost wryly humorous delivery sometimes. I did find this piece to be almost poetic, however.

Of all things astronomical, I have always found galaxies to be the most intriguing, and this article really appeals to my imagination. I hope in my lifetime we learn why in spite of our apparently tiny supermassive black hole, and lower luminousity and visible diameter, the Milky Way still appears to be more massive than Andromeda. Dark Matter just doesn’t feel “right.” It feels like a construct to fit an observed set of circumstances with no evidence to support it. (I know, gravitational lensing, but I still think Dark Matter is something less exotic and simpler than scientists imply.)
