double barrel and a sack of #4 shot?I'm glad you brought that up.
What is better for home defense?
#4 or 00 buck?
I don't have through the wall concerns so which is better for total stooping power?

Its a toss up at ranges inside a home. I have fired both and they are both devastating. #00 = 9 .32cal balls. #4 = 28 pellets. They also are loud. Your ears would ring for hours but your target would be destroyed.

You could also modify bird shot to a “cut” shell or a “wax” shell (homemade Glaser)

I’d recommend 7 1/2s or 9s - skeet shot. Spreads fast. tears the living h_ll out of anything up to 20 yards but will not penetrate walls to kill neighbors. Shotguns are the best house defense weapon made.
