It was worth watching. They basically did their version of the “Ok! Go” set up. Having the Cokes pour near the end was a nice touch.

This looks like a college crowd, this sums up what kids are doing with their spare time at college. Should we be suprised that America is not producing enough Science/Math oriented kids and their inability to payback their guaranteed student loans??? Should we be suprised?

What is the difference between “Diet” Coca-Cola in the red can and “Zero” Coca-Cola in the black can?

Nada. None what so ever.

The company decided that “diet” was a feminine term and needed something masculine sounding (and looking). Hence, they came up with “Zero” in a black can.

It is the same, exact recipe for both.

(I ran across this information while googling to find if there was a coke with no caffeine and no sugar on the market.)

I knew that comment was coming. Yes, the creativity factor is high, Engineering/Math skills were employed in the design and construction of the machines BUT...I wonder who really designed it, the Coca Cola Corp. or the students? All of that effort, time, money (who paid?) to drink a coke?
It would be interesting to discover more about the production of this ad.

Nada. None what so ever.

You can't believe everything you read on the Internet. I drink plenty of both. I had read on the Internet that the Diet Coke was the basis for the new Coke formula, and the Coke Zero is based on classic. I don't know if I would go that far, but they taste different. Have someone pour them in unmarked glasses to confirm.




Note that the igredients order is different between the two products. Of course, the "natural flavorings" are different in each product.

I can tell the difference, or perhaps I “think” I can because I did not do a blind taste test. Zero tastes a bit “better” for me, than diet coke. Diet coke, instantly fake tasting. Coke Zero, still different than real coke, but better that Diet. I’ll have to try again, but it was not close for me.

I disagree - this is physics and engineering in practice, a real world test of kinetic and potential energy states, friction and parabolas. While the spectators might have been there for the fun, the builders and designers were demonstrating real skills, easily converted to real jobs with a future.

There is an annual nationwide Rube Goldberg college-level contest hosted by Purdue University. Their definition of a Rube Goldberg machine is a process of 20 steps (or more) to accomplish a simple task. 2012 task was to inflate a balloon, 2013 will be to hammer a nail. Of course these examples have to be 'portable' and small enough to be cheek-by-jowl with their competitors.

This Coke example is far too large to be used there as is another corporate classic that I have loved for years, Honda UK Accord commercial.
