I was listening to the audio book of Dune when I was at work, and hearing all the Arabic overtones kinda made me uneasy. I wound up not finishing it and I don’t much to anyway.

True, Frank Herbert must have really studied the Islamic cult as his books use that as a base for his novel. But, Islam is a reality and if anything, helped me understand the Muslim thinking. It did not detract from the book to me.
Had it tried to make the Emperor and or the Harkonnans look somewhat like Christians, that would have been the end of it all for me but they were more villain than the Islamic types.
