I know, I'm just giving Tubebender a bad time. We were in that area 2 weeks ago and the weather was Chamber of Commerce gorgeous. Tubebenders offerings are extremely tough to beat. I, on the other hand, after several plantings due to late frosts here on the high desert of Oregon, have another problem in our little kitchen garden. It's enclosed to keep the mule deer out but not sage rats. These are photos of 1 nights damage. As you can see I've got a "live" trap set; I've tried bait but it dumped the bait out of the 5" plastic lid and carried the lid off.

Again, this is just one night - lettuce, peas, bell pepper and beans got hammered:

OH happydogx2, how awful. I wouldn’t use a live trap, I’m mean, I’d do the varmit in. I’m going to plant some habenero peppers with some of my tomatoes and corn next summer and spread espson salt around to keep out the racoons, rabbits and any other varmit who might try and take some.

I am not sure what a Sage Rat is but we have had such a bad rat problem at our house in Houston that I finally called a professional. The adults are HUGE 14” to 16” long from nose to tip of tail. I have heard of peanut butter mixed with oatmeal but raw bacon and the big wooden traps is best. You should rub your hands with the raw bacon before handling the traps.
