Again from William Parker's book, Fogel and Engerman, and the University of Virginia, here is the data.......
The per capita income of free populations in 1860 as compiled by the United States Census was the following:
........................South..............North
...........................$150................$142
No where in the 1860 census are those numbers.
I don’t claim they are yours but you are defending them as being accurate. I would be happy to discuss this with the authors but they don’t seem to be on this thread.
Why are you limiting the issue to “free” or “free white” portions of the population? Could it be that to include the WHOLE population would show you to be completely wrong?
