An anti-gay letter urging Christians to vote for Mitt Romney that was printed today in The Springfield News-Leader has been confirmed by the newspaper as having been penned by Jane Pitt, mother of Brad Pitt.
The verification comes amid some confusion, as the Missouri newspaper first printed an editor's note denying any relation between the letter writer and movie star. That was later replaced with a second editor's note, reading, "To clear up earlier confusion, the News-Leader has verified the letter writer is the mother of actor Brad Pitt and local businessman Doug Pitt."
The letter -- itself a response to another opinion piece in the newspaper justifying Christians' rights to refuse to vote for Romney because he is a Mormon -- identifies Mrs. Pitt as "a Christian [who differs] with the Mormon religion."
But, Pitt continues, "any Christian should spend much time in prayer before refusing to vote for a family man with high morals, business experience, who is against abortion, and shares Christian conviction concerning homosexuality just because he is a Mormon."
Pitt goes on to write that "any Christian who does not vote or writes in a name is casting a vote for Romneys opponent, Barack Hussein Obama a man who sat in Jeremiah Wrights church for years, did not hold a public ceremony to mark the National Day of Prayer, and is a liberal who supports the killing of unborn babies and same-sex marriage."
Along with Angelina Jolie, Brad Pitt has long been an outspoken champion of gay rights. Pitt once told Ellen DeGeneres, "Ive said that we would not be getting married until everyone in this country had the right to get married." The two nevertheless announced their engagement in April, after seven years and six children together.
In January, Pitt said of his mother in a cover profile in The Hollywood Reporter, "She's very, very loving -- very open, genuine, and it's hilarious because she always gets painted in the tabloids as a she-devil. There's not an ounce of malice in her. She wants everyone to be happy."
In the same story, the Moneyball star revealed his own support of Obama in the upcoming presidential election.
Brangelina’s mom and dad (the one whose Chrysler leBaron I drive) are A-OK!
No body should stay away from the polls this November.
There are a lot of Conservatives running for both houses of Congress and hundreds in local races.
The Presidential race has already been decided.
Just act, Brad, and stfu about politics.
Mrs. Pitt - see my tagline.
“So when are the homosexualist and abortion enthusiasts going to demand Brad Pitt be blacklisted in Hollywood?”
Probably about the same time as the believers in the sacredness of marriage demand he be blacklisted for living in sin all these years. Really, who cares? There are bigger things to worry about.
If the presidential race has already been decided, only God has made the decision.
To God’s glory, I accept the decision.
At least there are many Conservative sites on FB which I visit regularly.
God allows free will.
But judges according to how that free will is used.
When Clinton was elected President in the last century, my pastor said to me, what a tragedy.
I reminded him that when a people go away from His will, God will allow an evil leader to be in power as a divine judgment.
Remember when the Israelites wanted a King, and God made clear that they didn't need one, He is their King?
There were more evil kings than good ones back in Old Testament times. God's judgment.
When the Israelites came closer to God, they got a good king.
When they strayed away, they got a bad one.
How far must this nation have strayed that we only have a choice between two liberal men with almost the same ideals for president?
The GOP has decided to let Obama reign another 4 years by nominating a liberal GOP-e candidate who cannot win.
They decided the outcome, not God.
This is His judgment, unless an upset happens at the GOP convention in a few short weeks.
The difference is those who believe in the sacredness of marriage and human life have no power in Mr. Pitt’s business. However, those on the opposite side of these isues do.
I don’t care who is gay as long as;
one, they don’t try to force their lifestyle on me or anyone else.
Two, they don’t teach their lifestyle to children.
Three, they keep it behind closed doors.
Four, they don’t try to pretend that somehow their lifestyle is more “normal” or superior to heterosexuality.
Five, they don’t hold “gay pride” parades, after all we don’t hold “straight pride” parades.
Unfortunately a growing number of gay people are unwilling to meet any of these conditions which I personally consider to be quite reasonable expectations, therefore I say to all those, to hell with you and the jackass you rode in on and before you say anything about Matthew Shepard go and study the case of Jesse Dirkhising and then decide whether you really want to talk to me about Shepard.
