I’m so sorry I misused the word geek. Doesn’t it also mean someone who is really interested in certain things/pursuits?

There are comic book geeks,sci-fi geeks,gaming geeks,etc.

That is what I took it to mean;someone who is very much into something. That’s all.

I was just curious as to what any experts here would say on the subject. Why is that so bothersome?

It’s a fascinating topic.

I’m interested from hearing from scientists and the Internet does not always give me the answers I’m looking for.

Again, kudos to you for responding and again, I’m just saying why it’s not a surprise that you caught a lot of flak.

By the way, you did receive several answers, including one from me. Did you thank anybody?

And by the way, I don’t think anybody was “bothered”. They were just laughing at you.

And by the way, although the word ‘geek’ does not have a hard-and-fast meaning, to say in the same post “I am a science geek” and “how do satellites work” is immediately amusing to anyone with even a passing knowledge of what goes on on Internet forums.
