The point being, a captain should stay with his ship if it's in trouble. But if it were GW, don't you think he'd be out with a chainsaw?

His presence would be support in a ceremonial fashion. "I'm here with you." It's our Capitol, after all, he's the president who lives in our capitol.

Most of us conservatives can take this sort of thing, storms and power outages, in stride, but DC is the liberal of all liberal US cities and full of helpless dependents. Which means--they'll be all the angrier at inconvenience and discomfort. I see a political opportunity.

Maybe Romney should stop by Home Depot, buy some generators and chain saws, and saw some trees out of the way.

That’s probably a bad idea....I doubt Mitt ever handled a chain saw before and would probably cut off his arm trying to start it....

Though he could hand out water and supplies and point out his opponent s at Camp David....goofing off..

He could stay, as you say, as ceremonial support. You cannot make me believe in a million years that the White House has no back up system.

I don’t care if you love W..or hate W...he was awesome during 9/11.

Think about we have today...it would have a total beat down and disaster.
