Say what you like but his Can't we all get along press conference was important for stopping the Rodney King riots. Not to speak ill of the dead, but I'll take the bait. Had Rodney King not been on parole for armed robbery and driving drunk at 117 miles per hour, or when arrested had he simply obeyed a lawful order to lie on the ground, the "Rodney King Riots" would never have happened. The death of 53 people and over one billion dollars in damage would have been averted. And as a bonus, he also would have avoided that beat down.

I used to feel exactly the same way, but after reading stories and seeing videos of police behavior over the course of the past 20 years, I have become nothing but sypathetic toward Rodney King in retrospect.
