Johnson Space Center got its Mock-Up Shuttle last Friday.
And we had a big-ass party, celebrating the people in this area that help make space flight possible.

What has Los Angeles done to deserve a Space Shuttle?
The shuttles were built in Southern California, and the very first flight (actual glide tests) occurred there.
Also, the very first shuttle landing (Columbia), and several subsequent landings, was at Edwards AFB in SoCal.

Would make for a nice detail in a future Men in Black movie. An alien tries to fly away on the shuttle, but doesn’t make it due to the damaged wing.
