In order that we might all raise the level of discourse and expand our language abilities, here is the daily post of "Word for the Day".
chrestomathy \kres-TOM-uh-thee\ , noun
A collection of selected literary passages.
Example sentences:
I had learned to read Sanscrit and to translate easy passages in the chrestomathy, and devoted myself with special zeal to the study of the Latin grammar and prosody.
-- Georg Ebers, The Story of My Life from Childhood to Manhood
This little chrestomathy preserves almost the only words of Atticus to have survived from antiquity.
-- Peter White, Cicero in Letters
Etymology:
Chrestomathy literally means "useful to learn" in Greek, from the roots chres- meaning "to use" and math- meaning "to learn."
The sentence must, in some way, relate to the news of the day. The Review threads are linked for your edification. ;-)
Practice makes perfect.....post on....

In the interests of even-handedness and fair play, herewith a Bidenesque christomathy:
In Delaware, the largest growth of population is Indian Americans, moving from India. You cannot go to a 7/11 or a Dunkin Donuts unless you have a slight Indian accent. Im not joking.
Uh, uh, Chuck Graham, state senator, is here. Stand up, Chuck, let em see you. Oh, God love you. What am I talking about.
A man Im proud to call my friend. A man who will be the next President of the United States Barack America!
When the stock market crashed, Franklin Roosevelt got on the television and didn't just talk about the princes of greed. He said, "look, here's what happened."
Look, John's last-minute economic plan does nothing to tackle the number one job facing the middle class, and it happens to be, as Barack says, a three-letter word: jobs. J-O-B-S.
O brave new world that has such people in't! The Tempest, Avt V, Scene i
Nos genuflectitur ad non princeps sed Princeps Pacem!
Listen, O isles, unto me; and hearken, ye people, from far; The LORD hath called me from the womb; from the bowels of my mother hath he made mention of my name. (Isaiah 49:1 KJV)

The changing chrestomathy in the multiplicity of Obama bios leaves us to believe he may not know who he really is...but we know...an evil POS pretending to be POTUS.
To: ConorMacNessa
You can’t make that stuff up.
