What is questioned is how useful it is, and it serves very little use in the society.
So, you can keep denying it, but the fact is that FB is just another form of entertainment, nothing more.
And, as I have posted a number of articles. the business side of it, regarding ad's, is also very suspect as well.
There is very little evidence that people actually pay attention to the ad's, hence GM pulling their ad's out.
Simply put, FB is nothing but hot air.
Businesses don't spend 800 Million for something that isn't useful. No matter how hard you try to downplay it Facebook does alot of business and provides a lot of people with Jobs and income.
And your continued efforts to morph your argument aren't working. First you claimed no one would notice if Facebook closed down. (Which is laughable being the numbers involved who use Facebook is more that the combined population of the USA , Canada, Mexico and all but one of the Nations of South America Combined.) Second you claim it is nothing but entertainment, yet millions of Dollars of business are conducted through Facebook quarterly. Now you claim there Ad revenue is suspect yet they do nearly a Billion dollar in ad revenue and they also get paid directly through business deals. (Not to mention their Commerce they do in Facebook credits.)
I was taught a long time ago when someone's argument keeps changing it means their real objection hasn't come to light and they don't want to reveal it.
Can you name for me any other Internet communications platform that is as successful as Facebook?
To give you an idea of how successful Facebook is in ad revenue. The did 872 Million in the first quarter of this year. Fox News in 2009 took in a little over 600 Million in Ad revenue.
You can pretend Facebook is useless but since they are the number one Ad platform on the Internet AND they do more in Ads than Cable Networks you can see how ignorant your assertion is.
BTW a pastor friend of mine just announced to his congregation On Facebook that he has suspended the Church Newsletter. Instead he has setup a Facebook account for the church and will incorporate all the media Communications options to do the newsletter on Facebook. He also stopped his public access TV show and will produce it only on Facebook. The Congregation is excited at the prospect and are brainstorming all the ways they can use Facebook to support and promote the church.
I printed out this thread for him, he had a good chuckle over your naysaying of Facebook.
