You load up what you need on anyone day then only replace what you shot.

It was commonplace to reload five or six rounds in cowboy days.

I bought a Lee Loader for a 30-30 when I was a kid, and never used it.
To carry it on the trail, along with powder, shot and primer, just isn't efficient for the weight, use or money.
You have to worry about keeping it dry, and safe from other items.
I just don't see it for a 6 month trip.
Now staying around home, might be different. But my eyes, well I have to wear glasses with diabetes II.
Can you understand? I'm looking for "just enough firepower" with multiple choices in ammo, and small enough to backpack, and still be dependable.
And unlike the old days, I won't have a pack horse.
