WE MUST FIGHT THE GOOD
In a comment to the author of this thread, and speaking to the subject of Libertarianism, I commented in this vein that, "Republicans don't need a Libertarian to tell them that Romney is ripping the very heart of the Republican Conscience right out of the body of the Republican Party." (source)
The Reagan Conscience to be precise.
The moment that idea formed in my mind, I remembered this dramatic scene from "The Matrix" movie series, where "Agent Smith", who represents an agent of darkness and slavery, had thrust his hand into the heart of "Neo" the movie's hero, for the purpose of converting him to another mind-numbing agent of the darkside, and I remembered the special effects were superb, and that this scene would serve as a very dramatic metaphor for what is going on in the Republican Party today.
I share this scene here, for the purpose of offering some encouragement to what appears to be the embattled minority, to continue to stand our ground in a determined manner, with the hope of victory blazing brightly at the center of the mind's eye, to block the RomneyZombies efforts to take over the Republican Party.
In the screen-captured image below, you see where Agent Smith has thrust his hand into Neo's heart, and the darkness is spreading out throughout his whole body, and is nearly consuming him, but he gathers together his inner strength (which can only come from his strong belief in, faith in, and trust in God) and drives the darkness back. This scene is about 2:50 into the clip. Be ready to turn up the volume on your system as the sound track in this clip is very low, and you need to hear every word spoken before the major fight scene begins.
YouTube - a new window will open.)
See how Neo resists the taking over of his heart, yet he still has a battle to fight. And it is a dramatic battle too. The battle ebbs and flows, for a moment victory seems certain, the next moment defeat seems certain, the next moment the hope of victory bursts alive again, and then it is dashed again as more Agent Smiths arrive on the scene.
Of course it is all allegory. The circle he draws around himself in the end, is an allegory for God.
The moral of the story, is that while you must fight, while you must defend your core priorities in God, you cannot win without the Power of God which you cannot access without obedience to His Laws. That is the symbolism of the circle. It is the circle of the Law, the circle of God-Reality, that is where victory and freedom reside.
And yes, to surrender your purpose to the darkside, the purpose that God has placed in your heart, is to die.
The significance of Agent Smith's initial dialog, is in the fact that the dark side will adapt to the appearance of a real threat, and use deception to get the individual to lower his guard, allowing the enemy to gain access to the heart of the opponent, i.e. to his priority system.
This interesting capacity of Agent Smith to endlessly replicate himself speaks to this phenomena of the darkside capturing the hearts of more and more members of the Republican Party, making them into RomneyZombies, totally unthinking, though stubborn, and relentless, adherents to their leader, Willard M. Romney.
Does it phase them in the least that they bow and scrape before a man whose first name is also the title of a horror movie where the nemesis releases an army of rats on his enemies? No. Everybody will remember Bloody Thursday in exactly that way, except them.
The people who have truth still in their hearts, they must defend it. They must fight off the Agent Smiths. And they must come to terms with the source of their true inner strength, which is the Power of God through the intercession of the Lord Christ, whose universal desire and purpose is to raise each Child of God into the domain of Sonship under God, to thus empower them unto the victory in this ongoing battle between the forces of good and evil.
If that power does not start flowing through them now, as it did through Neo for the victory, the soul of the Republican Party will be lost.
The story of Neo is the story of a regular person, drawn into a great battle for freedom, who has to come to terms with who he really is, a Child of God, Heir to the Kingdom, and the representive of the Most High in the earth, with the power to match. Yes, Neo has to figure out what it really means to believe.

Second: The ABO crowd assumes that Romney will be a lot better than an Obama. The truth is a Romney will institutionalize many, if not most, of Obama's dalliances. For example, will Romney cut back the EPA and take away its dictatorial powers - don't count on it. Will he really get rid of Obamacare - His own stated position is to repeal and replace. Replace with what - a single payer system, which is exactly the ultimate goal of Obama and the far left?
Third: The ABO group assumes that a Republican Congress can force a Romney to toe the line. History, however, does not support this position. Typically, tea drinkers become kool-aid drinkers and support the party line.
Fourth: ABO's think that a Romney will save the Supreme Court from going left. Once again, history (both that of Romney personally and Rino Presidents in general do not support this conclusion. Ask yourself, who appointed Earl Warren?
This country can resist a buffoon Obama, but with Romney, resistance will be futile. To paraphrase another poster on a different thread: I fear with Romney we will only be getting a smarter Obama.
You still won't address the glaring flaw in your reasoning. Yes, Romney is a weak vessel - but the Obama is a sieve, and your strategy is to default to the latter.
No, I don't think that a somewhat left leaning squish would be a dictator. Dictators really need to have a vision, a core that they really believe in.
Romney does not have that.
That is why I say we have to work on getting in a conservative Congress.
"Anyone who tells the truth about Romney is an 0bama supporter according to the Mittens Kittens."
That is exactly NOT what I was accusing you of, and you know it but tried this leftist tactic of mischaracterizing to fit the agenda you serve. You're aliar and looking more like an obamnoid stealth worker at FR with every post. Your methodology reminds me of Paul Bagala or that democrap pig who cusses at females on Hannity's 9pm program.
All four points are valid - yet fail to note that in each point, Romney is the better (to wit: less bad) choice.
Stop equating “better” with “good”. We agree with all your points re: Romney, we just don’t see how you would rather have someone who’s _WORSE_.
Reviewing your points...
First: surviving Romney will be harder than surviving Obama, whose clear goal is to undermine & destroy the system. Romney at least will play within the rules, not set the rule book on fire.
Second: it’s not that Romney will be a lot better than Obama, it’s that Romney will be better than Obama. Whatever Romney will screw up, Obama has already signaled he will destroy. Easier to fix less damage than more.
Third: we can at least argue with Romney about the line. Obama will erase it.
Fourth: Romney may replace exiting judges with leftists. Obama will replace them with communists, and may not wait for any current occupants to exit before adding more - assuming he’ll care about the court at all instead of “that’s their ruling, now let them enforce it.”
As for buffoon vs futile, methinks you’ve got the subjects of that sentence reversed.
Not that I have given you any reason to understand my strategy in this thread, but my real strategy is to UN-empower which ever socialist is in the Whitehouse.
It had been fun playing with you folks on this thread, but I have work to do out here at the gulch.
L8r
I’m pretty sure it’s “faze,” not “phase.”
Bump.
Sarah sez "Vote for Obama or nobody at all!"

Damn the Republic!

Liberal Republicans always institutionalize the left's dalliances.
Obamacare, is being mightily resisted right now. When Romney makes a few minor changes and gets the support of half of the Republicans in Congress, the resistance to the new Romneycare will be much more difficult.
I don't think that Romney is as evil as Obama, but I do believe the results of Romney's actions, for freedom loving Americans will be worse.
Sure. Whatever. I’m a liar, and my long history of supporting conservativism was all just a setup to be an 0bama astroturfer for this thread.
Whatever makes you feel better about yourself and the lousy situation you have gotten yourself into.
Call me Axelrod; Hell, Call me Karl Marx, call me Mao if it makes you feel better. Doesn’t change reality, but maybe it will get you through the day
Really?
It appears to me that Obama is an incompetent buffoon and as much as I don't like Romney, he is far smarter than Obama.
Remember when GWB nominated Harriet Miers for the USSC?
The conservative base went ballistic and we got him to reverse that decision.
It can be done. It is up to us.
Ping.
Very interesting post and hand to hand combat comments. LOL! Probably Paul supporters making hay, but I’m for anything trying to still buck the tide before the convention, rather than throwing in the towel and rolling over for the GOP.
The resistance is getting no coverage in the media, that’s for sure.
You be sure to apply that reasoning to all the peeps you voted for prior to this election. I suspect it was a compromise then as it is now. I hope God understands that as well.
Romney is not George W. Bush I woudn’t assume that one is motivated by the same things as the other.
Romney doesn’t think he needs conservatives other than for five minutes in November.
Doesn’t matter. We are screwed with either one, but at least Romney may use some lube.
And now, I really have to continue with my preparations for societal collapse.
Wow....that’s a FANTASTIC picture of Sarah Palin. It truly captures her essence.
There’s still hope that Romney will do the unexpected and name Sarah as his Veep ticket-mate. The result this November would be a landslide of epic proportions bringing many, many down ticket conservative Republicans to victory also. Those conservative reinforcements will be greatly needed in both the US House & Senate—and also at the State & Local levels of government.
I hope most of my fellow FReepers & conservatives will keep the faith and not descend into defeatism. That only leads to “political suicide” & benefits our enemies.
Show up and vote for the conservatives running in your state’s primary and then, this November, show up and vote a straight Republican ticket.
And these goodly people wield their vested power to prevent Unconstitutional, unpopular legislative impositions by the executive branch, such as blocking Obamacare?
Obama, in case no one has recognized it, has concentrated power in his branch, acting either directly or via end runs around Congress by deploying czars and the hammer of federal agencies.
You may not have a political obligation to oppose Obama, but you have a moral obligation. (And here I'm assuming you, as we all do, oppose everything he stands for- trashing our Constitution; abortion "rights"; restricting liberty; wealth redistribution; sustaining our dependence on foreign oil by destroying our domestic and prosperous O&G industry, while rewarding his cronies in hapless "green" energy schemes; bringing the country to its knees before the approving world by crippling our military in the name of fairness and some vague notion of National penance) And that's just for starters. Feel free to add to the list, while you can in a Free Republic forum, because I imagine Obama has plans for such venues.
I think a closer examination of an unwillingness to send Obama home at any cost will eventually change your mind. You want to be true to yourself. Romney, I hope, isn't more important that your moral convictions and values. I'd prefer Perry or Newt and few others running against Zero but it's not the reality. So I deal with it.
Andrew Breitbart, when asked who he favored in the GOP Primaries at CPAC replied "I don't care." He went on to explain himself saying (I paraphrase) that removing Obama was paramount/critical to National survival. He knew. That's good enough for me.
He will not be intimidated by conservatives at all.
That isn’t in my Bible.... to which god are your referring?
Let me say, there are lot of us who are going to resist until hell freezes over, but are going about it silently to be spared from the utilitarian voters angst, those who are on high alert, fearing for their own Peace & Safety, believing Romney is different from Obama.
The GOP can’t take us resisters openly, prior to the convention, because the grassroots of this process are plenty teeeeeeeeed off and the grassroots delegates are going to run this show through the convention!
May the delegates reak some havoc while they can and decline the rolled-by-the-GOP crowd here.
Thanks.
