What should religious doctors do if a gentile is injured in a car accident on Shabbat and is rushed to the hospital? According to Rabbi Ovadia Yosef, this does not warrant violating the sanctity of the Sabbath.
During a class on Sabbath halacha relating to religious physicians, the spiritual leader of Shas said that while doctors are expected to do everything in their power – even if it requires violating the Sabbath – in order to save Jews whose lives are in danger, the same does not apply for gentiles.
"If a gentile were to get injured in a car accident during Sabbath, and he is brought to the hospital – Israel must not treat him," he said, explaining that "if the particular procedures come from rabbis (de-rabbanan), then they might be permitted, but if they stem from prohibitions in the Torah (de-'oraita), then they are not allowed, as the Torah forbids to violate the Sabbath for gentiles."

Any reading of Jewish teachings says to choose/save life all the time (and without regard to ethnicity or faith) This guy is either misquoted or full of sh!t. You see Jewish hospitals doctors and nurses treating and serving all comers 24/7. (Israel is very like USA in that the weird or nuts gets a lot of news coverage.) This guy definitely does not represent, or sdpeak for, any recognizable reading of Judeo-Christian moral teachings.

Years ago my sister was the token gentile in a very orthodox community. Someone there got into serious legal trouble when their child got sick on the sabbath, they wouldn’t use the phone to call for help, and the child died. As a result, my sister became the ‘go to’ person to make emergency calls, etc. on the sabbath.
Jews have their droolers, just as does Protestant Christianity.

Rabbi Yosef is 92 years old and has been saying dumb things, often in contravention to most Halachick positions for the last few years. Senile dementia is sad. The left and antisemites using it is worse.

That community breeched Jewish law when they failed to call for medical help for a sick child. It wasn’t just that they could breech the Sabbath to save the child, but that there is a positive ruling that they must do so. Their ignorance of Jewish law killed the child, not Jewish law. It must have been horrible for them not only to lose a child, but then learn their sin.

Rabbis are not supposed to read the New Testament as it is not part of the Jewish Bible. It is irrelevant to Judasim.

I’m not sure why you bring up the Parable of the Good Samaritan. Jesus Himself healed on the Sabbath.

They had a strange interpretation of Jewish law. According to the principle of Pikuach Nefesh "[rescuing a] life in danger takes precedence over the Sabbath.". An applicable Biblical verse is "You shall not stand idly by the blood of your neighbor" (Leviticus 19:16)
A friend of ours had a very orthodox family living across the street. One Sabbath afternoon there was a knock on their door. It was getting hot in the house and they wanted my friend to come over and turn on the air conditioning. We found it odd that they were forbidden to operate the controls but were free to enjoy the benefits.
Yep - "pick up your mat and walk". He made it clear that the Sabbath was for the people to enjoy, not a requirement for/from God.
