My wife and I purchased a 2005 Prius and loved every minute of driving that vehicle. When I retired, we purchased a 2010 Prius and we love it, too. We sold the older Prius to my daughter and her husband and they are proud and happy Prius owners also. The Prius is a joy to drive, a lot of torque, snappy and maneuverable.
Guess we are just the anomalies out there...

Maybe Prius is the only good hybrid? I have some friends who have the exact same story as yours, even with the daughter getting the old one. They love it and I drove the old one quite a bit on windy country roads when I visited and I was quite impressed.

I have a 2006 Prius, never had a better car or better mileage. It has never been to the dealer for maintenance. It’s averaging 53 MPG. During a trip from Colorado Springs to Aspen, & driving around, for 264 miles. The fill-up was 4 gallons, that is 66 MPG. You can definitely put me down for a repeat Prius buyer. And the Truck is a Dodge Ram 2500 Diesel for off-road pleasure.

Our Prius is pushing 250,000 miles. Best car we ever owned in terms of mileage, maintenance costs, and overall performance. I regularly use it to carry heavy loads. When the battery finally gives up, we’ll get another Prius.
