I wouldn;t be surprised if they changed the recipe to save money. They did that to Schlitz back in the early 70’s and ended the beer’s popularity. That used to be my favorite unitil they changed it. Drank it once more after I returned stateside. Never again.

Schlitz is taught in business schools nowadays as a case study of how a grand old brand can be destroyed through poor quality.

Schlitz has been re-introduced (in the Midwest, anyway - not sure how broad their distribution is yet) using the original pre-1968 recipe. It’s a great summer beer.
