From what I hear you do not want to buy a later model truck. The new low sulfur standards mean the injection system has not been developed too well and there are a lot of problems with them and low sulfur fuels. You have to use additives to save the fuel system.

Most refiners have solved the aromaticity and lubricity issues with low sulfur fuel.

That hasn't been a problem for awhile. 2% biodiesel fixed that. Any diesel over 2% bio is just icing on the lubricant cake. However, the more biodiesel, the more potential for water to appear. Fortunately, fuel filters can tie up the water just fine.

We talked to a lot of people and did a lot of searching online before buying our F-350. We hope to have a large 5th wheel in the next 1-2 years and everyone pretty much said go with Ford.

I’ve heard that the sulfur provided some lubricity and the lack thereof has caused problems in the widely-used Bosch high pressure fuel pumps. This is happening in the passenger car arena as well.
