But Mitt will also win over some middle and middle left people.

You better hope he will.

He won’t be able to win over a large chunk of the conservatives around here.

BTW, your words indicate a lot about you.

...yet I find myself hoping that Romney will be the POLITICIAN.

You've nailed him down quite well. He is a politician.

I don't want a politician, I want a STATESMAN and Romney isn't one.

Then stay home and don’t do your civic duty. Your ideology above all else has made you wastrels.

I will say in my defense that at least I'm consistent, which is more than Romney can say. To me "party over principle" means that a person is asked to abandon their core principles merely to ensure that a Party candidate is elected to office. Usually a person has several core principles that they feel strongly about. I'm sure that you have more than one yourself.
So, to me, the question becomes which of your core principles are you going to abandon solely for the sake of Party advancement? And then a person has to ask themselves if they're ready, and willing, to abandon some of their core principles for the sake of the Party, will they abandon all of their core principles for the sake of the Party. Because as soon as you give in and abandon those principles there is a push at the next election for you to abandon even more of your principles because you did so the last time and the Party knows this.

And eventually you have to look at yourself in the mirror and realize that you have no core principles any longer as you've abandoned them over time for nothing more than a short term political victory.

I simply can't sell my birthright (eventually all of my core principles) for a mess of pottage (short term political victory) else I damn my own soul.

JR is the real deal. He is a hero who has brought the truth to all corners of the earth.

I remember one incident when the ‘TOON tried to make a photo-op of the Columbine massacre.

All the news failed to mention that the high school parents refused to yield the school grounds to a shameless ‘RAT like BJ. He had to rent a nearby facility for his presser.

But local FREEPERS pointed out a part of the story that the lamestream media missed.

Keep the light of truth shining Jim! You are the light of the world....

"but you won’t vote for the GOP nominee because he’s not pure enough for you?"

This "purity" schtick has been trotted out by every RINO apologist from the get-go to browbeat Conservatives into being good little slaves/lemmings for the GOP. Congrats, kids. You've hit the mother lode. You've now got a nominee so far removed from the "purity" of honesty, ethics, and morality (nevermind Conservatism) that you'll have a Socialist-Marxist runoff in November. There won't even be a lesser of two evils between these two abominations. It's just plain evil vs. evil. Well, guy, I'm not playing that game no mo'. My soul ain't for sale.

Stay home is not on my list of things to do come voting day. However, Mitt/Obama will not get my vote.

Mitt somehow has to come to Jesus (in a serious way) and actually mean it when he says he’s pro life, pro gun, pro liberty...

Right now.. All I hear is a lot of grade a BS out of both of them.

That is NO way to earn my vote.

How YOU vote is up to you.

Your ideology above all else has made you wastrels.
No, your chosen candidate's consistently progressive ideology above all else has made him the wastrel.
He's just the latest Progressive Republican, but not the first by any means.

And the party establishment that foists him upon their fellow Americans are little more than opportunistic, trough feeding hacks.

Look, there is no doubt whatsoever about Romney being a liberal progressive. Our pro-life, pro-family, pro-gun, pro-limited government, pro-constitution, pro-liberty principles mean absolutely nothing to him. They’re just talking points that he can give lip service to one way or the other. And he has. He’s been on all sides on all issues and back and forth on most. And he lies. A lot. I’ve posted at least 10,000 times over the last seven or eight years that I would never vote for this progressive bastard so don’t be shocked. Rove screwed the pooch not me.

You know what is amazing.. I have asked pro Romney people to show me how Romney is different that Obama..

I have yet to have one reply to my simple request.

(it’s because they are one and the same. But you and I know this already)

I don’t need to agree with Romney 100%.. I’d like to see 80%. Based on Romney’s record. He’d be lucky to agree with me 10% of the time.

That to me means 2 things. 1 Romney is running on the wrong parties ticket. or 2. I am not fit to be in the current republican party.

I was one of those vowing to never vote for Romney because I couldn’t imagine that he would win the nomination.

I am still hoping against hope that somehow he will not be able to pull it off.

If it’s him -vs- zero, I will not let my vote count for zero. I will hold my nose, close my eyes, vote the R and throw up.

Hopefully, if it comes to that, most freepers will be able to hold their noses, close their eyes, vote R, throw up and then join me in holding the R’s feet to the fire, like we did (somewhat) with GWB.

Still hoping it doesn’t come to that.

I have felt the same way about Romney.

BUT,

The Devil himself would be better than Obama.

So, for that reason I have decided I will vote for Romney.

where do you live cable? If it is NY I would be happy to get a registration form for the Conservative party to you. Which,I believe, is still the third line on the ballot. Feel free to correct me anyone from Ny if I am wrong.

“But Mitt will also win over some middle and middle left people.

I’ve already seen on Facebook where liberals are saying that they don’t care if Romney wins because he is for the individual mandate and abortions.

On one hand that makes me sick, on the other hand it is proof that moderates and even liberals that are sick of zero will vote for Romney.

I don’t like Romney much either. Unfortunately the country I was born in and fought for is being destroyed by our current president. We can’t sit by and let him get another 4 years to continue destroying our country and Constitution.

Yeah, Romney stinks. Vote your conscience, none of us would expect anything less. For myself, I could never live with myself if I sat by as this abomination of a president is reelected.
