I smack him lightly, he bites me again, I smack him again, he bites me one more time. Before I can react he jumps up and bounds off the coffee table and hits the couch, stops, turns around and reverses the process and ends up in my lap again. All cuddly and lovey, I pat him some more and it is all evil again. Bites the fire out of my hand and gives me that look and launches off toward the hall.

We named him Rocket for a reason, but this is just bizarre.

Saturday night, more Samurai, more lovey cat. Gives me that look again and is all teeth before I can react. I didn't swat him this time, but the evil eyes are still looking at me. Ears laid back, more biting, the good Samurai slices the bad Samurai, more cat teeth, and another Top Fuel launch toward the hall.

Felines are not to be trusted. This orange tabby has a taste for human flesh. What's next, BRAINS?!?

Put him in a pillow case, tie it closed and put him on your lap and pet him through the pillow case. Be gentle.
See if he catches on that you want to be gentle.

Or, If that does not work, get some welding gloves and play rough, let him bite and scratch the gloves, put him on his back show him your dominate power. Show him who's boss. Don't harm him just show him your strength. He needs to see the results of his attacks as a losing prospect.

He's just playing, but your being wimpy. You're a big rat he wants to kick your butt, and chomp on your head, when he's and when done, eat your brains. He's dominating you.

Inherited a cat when I married my ex-wife. She had him for four years and she went batsh@t crazy when after three days he would jump on to my lap and fall asleep. She couldn't even pick him up and place him on her lap without getting bit, hard. When I came home after playing tennis he would love to lay at my feet and lick the salt off my ankles and if I dared move before he was done, I got a quick playful nip.

I should have fought to keep him after the divorce and I will regret that to my dying day.

bounce him off the wall a few times, gently of course. Like another freeper said, maybe he senses female in heat in the neighbor and is frustrated

He is being over stimulated by the petting. Stop petting him while in your lap. Simple really...he wants to snuggle and cuddle...not petted.

Well the first thing ya need to do is get out of his chair, my cats only allow me to sit in the floor at their feet.

My cat (Little Killer) does the same thing but never out of the blue. She only attacks when I break her #1 rule – never disturb her, in any way, when she’s comfortable. She defines “disturb” as my moving any body part when she is on or beside me.

I had a cat that acted like that once. She had distemper. I would consult a vet.

Rule 1: Its never the cat
Rule 2: It's always the human
Rule 3: Don't treat your cat like a human. Your cat is a cat.
Rule 4: Don't piss off the cat.
Rule 5: NEVER hit the cat. Remember Siegfried and Roy? Hit a big cat, expect to be killed.

There are plenty of cat behavior books/programs. My Cat From Hell is an excellent resource. All these shows (cat behavior/dog behavior) ALWAYS address short comings in the owner, not the animal.

Cats have a incredibly sensitive pain vs pleasure threshold. You can be stroking the cat, then the very NEXT stroke, he/she has had enough and bites. The problem is, the cat's been telling you to stop and you weren't listening. review Rule 3 again.

30 minutes a day in structured play time with a feature toy which will do wonders in a constructive release of pent-up energy.

First, never play with a cat with your bare hand, second, i had a scizzo cat that turned out to have a heart deformity...last, cats have their DON’T TOUCH SPOTS OR YOU WILL DIE. You found your cats spot I think.
