I thought Cunard (the successor to White Star) already had plans to re-build the Titanic? Not that I thought it was a good idea at the time, but last I heard they were still considering going ahead with it.

Don’t know, but Cunard bought its rival White Star back c.1930, not a successor.

Seriously doubt that Cunard would build another "Titanic".
They deliberately played down the 100th anniversary of the sinking of the original.
Another "Titanic" would only reminder the world of the fate of the first.
