Regardless of which direction the war of the sexes is leaning, one thing is certain: A gender gap still exists between women and men when it comes to buying a new car.
According to the third annual gender and car buying study by TrueCar.com, the brand with the highest percentage of retail sales to women in 2011 continues to be Mini (46.2 percent), followed by Nissan (45.7 percent), and Kia (45.6 percent) compared to 2010 when Mini (47.9 percent) came in first, followed by Kia and Honda respectively (46.8 percent and 46.0 percent). On the flip side, 13 of the top 20 brands in 2011 with the highest percentage of male buyers were either exotic or luxury brands.

I think they had three, and my friend was always driving a different one to school.
Funny thing was, he was a 6 foot 4, 130 pound string bean of a dude, as was his dad, and it was entertaining to watch them unfold themselves from those little cars.
One of their cars had a bumper sticker that said, 'I Think Your Car Looks Funny Too.'
LOL. I can't tell you how many women friends of mine own a truck or big SUV. Not a single one owns some man's idea of a "chick car."
Ahhhhh, you got a new one do ya? Mine is soon to be 18, last of the great pick-em-ups.
couple small modifications and you can really make them scream.
Topless is always better, unless you're talking Helen Thomas or Rosie O'Donnell.
When my wife’s baby blue ‘73 Dart with the white vinyl top was in for repairs, I lent her my ‘65 Chrysler 300 gold hardtop. She is tall and blonde. She said more men stared at her when she was driving the 300.
Now, as a mother of three, she is very happy with her ‘94 Caprice wagon with fake wood and a 350.
210,000+ miles
Yep. I love the blue and triple black versions. They only made the 3.6 Turbo version one year. The price has come down to about 60k but that’s still too rich for me. Of course the prices are now on the way back up because of their scarcity...
I had a 911 frankenstien one time... 77 911’ frame, parts body (resembled more of a 911 RS, and a grey market 88’ turbo engine) It was a blast to drive. Porsche yellow with just two seats and a roll cage. However, it had one big turbo so it had lots of lag. Around corners you really had to watch it because the turbo would hit mid turn and all of the sudden you had 200 extra horsepower to deal with. A couple of times I found myself headed sideways... I wish I hadn’t sold that car.
The best part was the straight line acceleration. The transmission was setup for 1/4 mile runs. Lots of low end grunt. It had almost no firewall or soundproofing any more and 5 point restraints. I loved taking someone for a ride in that car and stomping on it. It would roar inside and then the turbo whine would kick in. You would also get whiffs of fuel in the cabin when you put your foot down.
Now that I think about it... it is probably a good thing I sold it.
I love it but for some reason could never get past the slope nose!
Ruf did some aftermarket tuner jobs that were awesome but for the slope nose. Just dosen’t seem “balanced”. I would still take it if you gave me one!!!
A few years ago we decided to get a third car for our college age daughters to drive. My daughter suggested a Ford Focus. I said I wanted a VW Beetle, but it HAD to be green! It’s been a nice car for them.
I was on business trip when the Ford Focus first came out and I rented one. I was thinking it was a nice car, considered buying one, until the transmission died at an intersection.
This conservative woman just bought a Toyota Rav4. This is my second small SUV — just like them. Of course, a lot of the reason for that has to do with my bad lower back and both of my knees deciding they don’t want to work anymore.
Hubby’s sis is a lesbian who has had the same partner for 15 yrs. They both drive F150s.

that seals it. “Mini” may have a cut a check for that shot.
It does drive me crazy when I’m just commuting to the office or home and some asshat has to provie how cool he and his car are by doing something stupid and antagonistic.
