Mitt Romney is weird. When the Obama reelection campaign early in the cycle made the mistake of indicating that its strategy would be to imply that Mitt Romney is weird by repeatedly telling Politico that it planned on calling Mitt Romney weird, Romneys camp countered by causing a brief and not particularly sincere media brouhaha over whether weird is code for Mormon. Plenty of Americans think Mormons are weird, yes, but in this case, the simple fact is Mitt Romney is weird, entirely apart from his religion.

All video of him attempting to interact with normal humans is cringe-inducing, as a cursory YouTube search quickly demonstrates. (Martin Luther King Day, Jacksonville, Fla., 2008: Mitt poses for a picture with some cheerful young parade attendees. As he squeezes in to the otherwise all-black group, he says, apropros of nothing, Who let the dogs out? Woof, woof!) He seems to have been told that small talk is mostly made up of cheerfully delivered non sequiturs.

Romney recently told People magazine, I tasted a beer and tried a cigarette once, as a wayward teenager, and never did it again. Im not sure we should believe him. Theres no way in hell I can imagine Mitt Romney loosening up enough to have a beer.

In four years the lions’ share of rabid Romney supporters, will deny they ever did.
(Best be careful w/such language in a thread being contributed to by a nominal Hindu [Reaganaut1])
Mitt Romney's openly gay foreign-policy spokesman
"Grenell isn't the first out gay person to serve as a high-level staffer to a GOP nominee, but as far as I can tell, he is the first such press spokesman -- the first to serve as the public face of the all-but-certain Republican nominee -- and on the historically sensitive issue of national security, no less."
Why would ANY conservative support Romney?
"I wont be voting for Romney. If he gets the nomination, Ill be campaigning full time against him. There will be NO campaign for an abortionist, homo agenda pushing, gun grabbing, big government, mandate loving, statist, RINO, political whore on FR. Not today. Not tomorrow. Not ever!!
Anyone who doesnt like that is more than welcome to take his RINO loving free speech rights elsewhere."
Rebellion is brewing.
GO TEA PARTY!!!
Strawman...
You can only make this argument if you take conservatives collectively...
Individually...no...The overwhelming # of conservatives settled for McCain...and before that shifted to 2nd, 3rd, or 4th choices in the '08 race...just like many shifted down in 2012...
Same thing in 1990s with Bob Dole.
It's not too much to ask that the guy you vote for isn't pro-abortion, doesn't have a liberal-judge appointment track record, isn't THE pioneer on big govt socialistic healthcare...
Otherwise, what's the diff 'tween him & the (d) guy???
What's now the key differences anymore with the (R) & (D) parties when the GoP-establishment gives us Romney?
If I wanted someone to the left of LBJ & his welfare state, I'd have joined the Dems.
And just what office have you run for? I am a Precinct Committeeman, an office I was elected to hold. My "duty" is to my state and country, NOT to follow the lead of Karl Rove.
You are perfectly welcome to follow YOUR duty whatever the hell it is.
It's relative. If Romney was a moderate with a few blemishes, FR would probably back him. If Romney was who he claimed to be in his campaign speeches, FR would probably back him
But Romney's record is pro-abortion, pro-sodomy=marriage, pro-Romneycare the model for Obamacare, anti-gun, pro-big government.
Were left asking what's the difference between Obama and Romney. And were coming up with so little that it's not worth voting for a GOP-labeled liberal and having the liberal agenda attached to the GOP. Let the Obama and the democrats reap the failures from the liberal agenda.
As an example, what’s the first thing that Romney did, once it was clear he had the nomination? Named an open gay person to be his main spokeman.
That’s a conservative? I don’t think so.
I have to watch it. Creepy is the perfect word to describe Willard. I don’t exaggerate when I say he makes my skin crawl....I’ve been having that reaction to him since the earliest debates.
This forum is probably going to officially be a pro-Virgil Goode forum.
After I vote for Newt in the California primary I am going to re-register in the Constitution Party and vote for their candidate.
If Romney is going to be elected he is going to do it with the votes of Northeastern Liberal Republicans, liberal democrats who are disillusioned with Obama and liberal uninformed independents.
That is his target constituency.
They can have him.
I'm on board with that.
In effect Romney's election ends any pretense that there is any opposition party at all. What ever roadblocks there have been to a socialist agenda will have evaporated.
Huh? Reaganaut is a Christian, isn’t she?
Same here. I’ve already voted in the Ohio primary and done my duty. Romney won by about a vote and that largely because the media spent a month tearing Santorum down. The party’s arcane rules didn’t permit our candidates access to delegates, but did permit outsiders to vote in their primary.
Can you imagine? Your own candidates don’t qualify, but democrats do? Absolutely insane!
So, I’m a Virgil Goode supporter for this election. He is pro-life, pro-God, pro-gun, pro-small government, pro-American worker over illegal, pro-controlled border, pro-Americans secure in their persons and papers, pro-best military in the world....everything a conservative could want.
“It’s become a clearinghouse for orthodox conservatives to demand 100% purity from politicians...”
Or the republicans can offer a candidate that is 50 percent conservative...
That is his target constituency.
They can have him.
Exactly, if the GOP wants to keep nominating liberals they need to figure out a way to get them elected without my help.
I don’t expect you to see it like I do. What kind of conservative would want to run for office when they will be in the crosshairs of the media, the political opposition, AND their political allies? Only the kind who will tolerate the pressure as long as they can exercise control over others. This is the environment we have so these are the candidates we will get. That is until one of us decides to make such a sacrifice to advance freedom. I certainly don’t want to run for president and put my family through that kind of hell so I’m in no position to tell others they should. Since I didn’t apply for the head chef job, I will order from the menu.
He sounds like a FREEPER!
Does anyone know his Freeper name? :-)
If you have to ask, you probably won’t understand...
