I’ve never had a “friends with benefits” relationship but I might be open to it if it was exclusive. That actually sounds like a pretty good marriage to me. All the good stuff without any of the misery. If I could find a woman that would do an “exclusive friends with benefits plus a marriage certificate” relationship I would be on that like a secret service agent.

The nature of the whole FWB thing precludes an overt expectation of exclusivity. The practical reality may end up being that it's exclusive, primarily due to concerns over sexually transmitted disease, but actually expecting it starts taking on the character of ownership and controlling that FWB is intended to avoid, the sort of thing that has people, mostly men, looking for a more easygoing, less harangue filled variety of regular female companionship, one that is actually friendly and enjoyable with occasional physical affection.

It's a pity that society has devolved to such a point, but that's where it is for a growing segment of society. Aggressive feminism poisons male-female relations, making it a constant power struggle. Remove the sense of ownership and entitlement, and the power struggle recedes.

Yeah, I could not see that working for me. You have sex with someone you explicitly do not fall in love with/have a relationship with. It’s really a myth both sides are trying to believe. There is no such thing as sex without consequences. If they aren’t physical they are emotional and/or spiritual.
