Governor Palin’s Closing Argument On Her Fox News Special “Paying At The Pump”
Fox News and C4P ^ | 4/13/2012 | Sarah Palin

Posted on 04/15/2012 7:20:26 AM PDT by ak267

Palin: Here’s the deal. There is that inherent link between energy and prosperity and energy and security. Oil prices affect everything in our lives, including even where we send our sons and daughters in war. Bottom line is we need to drill more here where God seems to have dumped a storehouse of safe energy supply right underfoot. Developing resources here grows our economy. It decreases trade imbalance. It creates hundreds of thousands of good paying jobs and it secures our union by eliminating dependence on dangerous foreign regimes, regimes that use energy as a weapon. Access to affordable energy and ethical trade, that’s the real all-of-the-above approach and it is key to America’ security.

I really really like how she couches this. To me, Newt was almost on target with his emphasis on energy. And by almost, I mean he let some consultant tell him that the phrase to use is “two dollar fifty cent gasoline” - when in fact, Palin’s message that energy is every thing, energy is every issue - is far more powerful.

Energy is THE issue because energy impacts EVERY OTHER ISSUE - even the social issues. Palin gets it.

I am so sad this woman decided to sit out this election. So sad.

Yes Sarah gets the entire picture, personal freedom and liberty, which is why the left fears her.

I would only say don’t get obsessed with people, get obsessed with ideas. Her ideas on energy are critical and those ideas can live on in this election whether or not she is officially a candidate.

In fact, those ideas might gain more traction if she is not a candidate per se.

Energy is the issue, period, because it does literally impact every part of our lives, and therefore, every other possible issue.

All Newt has to do is get her on as VP.

The election would be done in a month.

July 4th, 2012, Obama concedes presidential election based on polls, 92.4% Gingrich/Palin ... Obama 4.2%

I’m not obsessed with people. I’m not obsessed with her. However, I believe her bowing out this election cycle opened the door to the fiasco this GOP primary has become.

We’ve had to settle for 2nd or 3rd tier candidates (or worse) who couldn’t close the deal, couldn’t get the voters enthused, and now we appear to be left with the worst of the lot.

I’m not obsessed with people. I’m disgusted with events.

If Romney had an ounce of brains he'd commit this sentence to memory and repeate a zillion times before the election.

But, as we all know.....

Bang on bcsco.

Last year (Oct 5th), after Palin said “no” to running, I was POed big time. Twas a sad night at my neighborhood bar.

Next day, I visited two candidate’s (CONSERVATIVES) offices to help their efforts. Sarah may not be in the race but others who have a similar philosophy ARE.

Sarah got me interested in politics again.

In fact, those ideas might gain more traction if she is not a candidate per se.

If you are going to throw water on a fire, you had better have something else to bring light to the argument to replace it with.

Are you implying that she is not to be a messenger for whatever reason? Ideas just don't migrate by osmosis.

Your post just sounds like the person on the street complaining about the government when they are not even registered to vote.

“I am so sad this woman decided to sit out this election. So sad.....”

It kind of hits you over and over doesn’t it?......I feel a tremendous sense of loss for the country and bitterness towards not only the media but her own party who closed the door on her.....Watching her Fox special I kept thinking “What a waste”.....She did a great job but seemed out of place.....This woman is a leader, not a tv host......

What in the hell are you talking about? You are so far off base it’s not worth a response.

I simply meant Sarah’s message was very important whether she was a candidate or not. I simply meant that we should not spend so much time worrying about her lack of candidacy and spend time promoting her issues - which is what SHE IS DOING.

I’ll recommend you tighten up on that reading comprehension and ratchet down the paranoia a tad while I’m at it.

The libs (includes media) have no clue how to respond to Palin so they call her “stupid” when, in fact, everyone with a brain agrees with her. They respond to Rush the same way except he has made so much sense for so long they can't call him "stupid" so they call him "just an entertainer”. Why don't they challenge either of them to a debate?

(note to mazda77) don’t take this personally, this is more of a philosophical response.

I think what he was saying is that people come and go, live and die, engage and disengage, but ideas go on. And it’s the ideas that we must embrace.

I predict Sarah will engage in a political race someday (heck, she could run for school council and I’d fly from Nebraska to support her) but there’s an equal chance of her saying “the heck with it” and go back to private live. She could be a commentator, an advocate, a ground-support adviser, full time mom or a slew of other things. The world is at her feet and she’s young and healthy. To paraphrase a certain feminist malcontent, SHE HAS IT ALL AND THAT’S WHY THEY HATE HER SO MUCH!!!!

She could also come out the next day and say “I’ve got cancer and it’s terminal” or there could be plane crash, a serious family situation and so on and so forth. As much as love this gal, she is MORTAL after all and if she exits the stage then what? You’ve just shot your emotional/psychological ammo and now you’re lost. Sarah would be pissed to hear such things because she would of failed to reach the people’s minds. I think the term “rock star” really grinds her because it devalues her leadership/intellect and pumps up a pop culture mentality.

“I would only say don’t get obsessed with people, get obsessed with ideas”....

It’s not being obsesses with a person.....It’s seeing commom sense leadership with the right ideas going to waste.....There is no other GOP candidate with those qualities and charisma to boot....Whether you like it or not charisma has something to do with it....Palin has both.....

I know what you mean by bitterness. Just this week, when the GOP seemed to go into ballistic-level defense of Ann Romney (which was an entirely good, commendable and proper course of action), I couldn’t help but contrast this to the way the GOP never came to the defense of Palin or her family throughout the most unprecedentedly outlandish attacks, from coordinated Dem attempts to bankrupt her and her family to the media trying to accuse her of complicity in the mass-murder in Tucson. Where the hell was her ‘own’ Party throughout this and beyond?

Sure makes it seem as though there is a different set of rules if one is part of the “elite” GOP-establishment crowd, versus a conservative/outsider/reformer... the latter gets treated like worthless trash. Really altered my entire view of the Republican Party, in a most negative way, after decades of voting exclusively GOP. Total watershed situation for me, these past four years.

If you don’t think a lot of folks around here are obsessed with people over ideas, you are not paying attention. And I really really really really tire of any notion that Sarah Palin is of great value as a non candidate means the commenter is anti Palin. I really tire of it. It’s moronic. Its close minded. It’s paranoid. It’s illogical.

She is NOT a candidate. Her IDEAS are STILL VALID. Learn it, live it, love it. That is NOT an anti Palin sentiment. Quite the opposite in fact.

I'm for passing a law that says NO imported energy: We only get our oil and gas from North American sources, preferably right here, in country.

Such a law/national policy would end our budget deficits, our debt and all these damn wars for oil/foreign entanglements that kill our kids and poison our national spirit. No more bowing to Saudi Kings!!!

The more I think about it, it's too important to be a law. It should be an Amendment to the Constitution!

CEW,

Most here at FR are obsessed with a philosophy and when a leader espouses them, most would raise that leader, period. Present another leader who is willing to do the same as her in both in words and actions and most will likewise.

As I said, ideas just don’t migrate by osmosis so a leader who is not afraid the espouse a philosophy with articulate confidence is deserving of the mantle. Ergo, the desire in many that she would have taken on not only the liberal media but also the Republican establishment.

That is all. Without a leader who walks the walk, ideas are just mere words and catchy phrases.
