I will definitely give this a try the next time. It sounds sweeter to me than a shot of straight vodka. Alcohol has been used a long time for medicine... it still works great today.
If you need a sore throat remedy: make a cup of hot tea - black tea variety is good. Add a tiny bit of butter, a teaspoon of honey, a good squirt of lemon, and a shot of good rum. Or two. Sip till gone.
The taste could be better - but it works a charm to ease a sore throat. Long lasting too.
