The trailer for the new Total Recall actually looks more like Blade Runner than the original Total Recall.I will eagerly await your review and then decide if it is worth it. But I have generally been disappointed by remakes, Psycho, Beyond the stars , Clash of the Titans.

throw in imposter, paycheck, a scanner darkly and minority report- the books/ short stories were all great, but the movies did not come close to living up to the originals.
but if you want to conisder the worst of all story to movie adaptations for blown potential, gotta look at gibson’s johnny mneumonic.

They are obviously gearing up more for the US market. Hardly surprising - its still the biggest one out there, certainly for english speaking audiences - and as has been said numerous times on these threads, there's a marked lack of commpetition at the moment.
However, I'm not so sure about the trailer. They only have clips from about three episodes there, and the gunfighter thing seems to predominate. That worries me a bit. The British are notoriously bad at making westerns. But, Dr Who has a habit of surprising me, so maybe it will all pan out!

re: P.K.Dick’s _A Scanner Darkly_ I found it brilliant and very much in keeping with the story. Perhaps more-so than any other of his stories that have afflicted the silver screen.
