In order that we might all raise the level of discourse and expand our language abilities, here is the daily post of "Word for the Day".

Etymology:

The sentence must, in some way, relate to the news of the day. The Review threads are linked for your edification. ;-)

WFB's attempt to emulate us ; ) No pushing at the door please!
i am sure that song was pretty typical. Our’s probably was too, but maybe not at caucasian weddings. We were 28 and 30, so our choice was MATURE ; )
EXCELLENT!!! A++++ [oh wait, i am not teacher today!! but if i was i would give you that!]
what was your wedding song, if any? I want to hear everyone’s, now that i strolled down memory lane circa 1985 for mine.
I thought you were tempting my pedantry.
oh like that’s so tough to do! ; )
Besides the surname similarity, he does have a “turtle-y” face. ;)
Never remember him covering up in scraps, though...
Yeah. I don’t always agree with him, but Mencken sure knew how to turn a phrase.
“Democracy is the theory that the common people know what they want and deserve to get it good and hard.”
Oh, I don’t remember — some funeral dirge.....
Actually, “Can’t Help Falling In Love With You” by The King.
nice choice!
“I don’t know, I was really drunk at the time.”
If Mama Cass had given that sandwich to Karen Carpenter, they’d both be alive today.
i know! LOL!
And they’d likely be annoying hippie liberals that we’d all hate.
Remakes are usually awful so I’m not surprised. Exceptions: Without You by Harry Nilsson, Bang a Gong by Power Station, Natural Woman by Aretha, Twist and Shout by The Beatles, to name a few.
That’s funny!
Thanks! Welcome to WFTD!
So, it is past noon....did the DOJ produce the 3 page book report yet?
Blinded by the Light - best remake ever.
