I was wrong. My friend was scheduled to have it done, and then he noticed a correlation between the arthymia and his alcohol consumption. Reducing his martinis from 9-11 a week to 2 a week completely eliminated the problem. His situation is probably very atypical.

Actually, moderate to heavy alcohol use is well known to cause Afib and to add to existing Afib. Best to stay away from Alcohol if you have Afib. Glad to hear your friends was entirely alcohol related.

I was having rapid heart beats a few years ago and after going to the cardiologist and he found nothing wrong I kept a record of everything I ate (a food diary). I discovered whenever I ate something containing MSG (mono sodium glutamate) I would have a period of rapid and irregular heart beats for several hours. Very scary, especially when the doctor tells you that you are fine and it still happens.
