Carl Rowan, IIRC, was a longtime Washington Post columnist. He may have been carried in one of the Chicago fishwrappers, but he didn’t live in town.
You are correct, Sir. He did live in DC and, for some reason, I thought he lived in a burb of Chicago. He wrote a syndicated column for the Sun-Times and that maybe where that idea came from. One caution: don’t read the Wikipedia entry for him - you’ll hurl yer innards clear across the barnyard.
P.S. Wiki says he was one of the most “highly decorated” journalists. I recently heard an ad talking about somebody as being “highly decorated’, too. Do you suppose people are just getting lazy and stupid about the meaning of decorations, or do you suspect some darker purpose like stolen valor?
