We are certainly not losing, although we are not winning either. If conservatives can keep Mitt from winning a first round nomination, despite the powerful support for the establishment choice and his gigantic funding edge, that should make the situation perfectly clear to the party leadership. If they decide to force Romney on us anyways, then America deserves the terrible consequences of that final error. I'll agree with DeMint that at least Romney doesn't hate America and Americans like Obama does, but otherwise the differences are small.

I do not believe that Romney will repeal ObamaCare, and that is essential for a candidate to get my vote.

I do not believe that Romney will cut federal spending significantly, and that is essential for a candidate to get my vote.

I do not believe that Romney will protect the Second Amendment, and that is essential for a candidate to get my vote.

I do not believe that Romney will protect the First Amendment guarantee of freedom of religion, and that is essential for a candidate to get my vote.

I do not believe that Romney will prevent the federal government from paying for abortions and from requiring others to provide abortions even if they have a religious objection, and that is essential for a candidate to get my vote.

I do not believe that Romney will govern in a manner significantly different from how Obama would govern, given the same Congress, and that is essential for a candidate to get my vote.

The real difference is with our military, where Romney at least doesn't seem to have that visceral hatred for our military. Unfortunately, I do not believe that Romney is either interested in our military or competent to serve as Commander-in-Chief (i.e., he's too much like Obama there too), and that is very nearly essential for a candidate to get my vote.

The party leadership knows that many of us feel that way. If they insist on Romney and on surrendering to ObamaCare and liberalism, I'm done with them. I will vote as conservative as possible in all the down ticket races, but Romney will need to win without my vote. I'll be voting Palin/Cain, Perry/Palin, or Santorum/Bachmann as write ins. I know that I don't sound very flexible here, but the political absolutes - fundamental God-given rights that are completely non-negotiable - have suddenly become political issues where our party's leadership wants to compromise. They can compromise on their own, but it will be without my support - permanently.

At the same time, I think it's very unlikely that I will vote for him. (I voted third party in 2008 in preference to McQueeg).

Yeah, and it's third party voters who gave us Bill Clinton, voting for Perot. Thanks a lot, third party voters.

They're as intelligent as those who voted for Obama last time to teach Conservatives a lesson. YOU guys are as much responsible for Obama's 30-trillion debt as he is.

What do you call the systematic dismantling of Rick Santorum on this forum??.....

We had a chance...we HAVE a chance to NOT have Romney, if we would just get behind our one viable candidate--RICK SANTORUM!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I'm ABO, and that's been my position all along. I have not bashed any of the Republican candidates so far (with the exception of Ron-Paul Ahmadinejad, whose foreign policy is downright dangerous). Unless the Republican nominee were to start campaigning as pro-Obamacare, pro-abortion, or pro-homosexual marriage, I will vote for the Republican candidate against Obama.

As far as Omni-Romney, the Man of a Thousand Faces, I do not trust him, I have not promoted him, but, given the proviso mentioned above, and with a Congress more conservative than the Massachusetts legislature, I think there's a possibility, at least, that he will be significantly better than Chairman Obamao. I can't imagine anyone as bad as Obamarx.

I donated to Cain. I voted against Romney in the primary. I have had my say. All that remains is to vote against Obama.

Whether or not that vote is for a Third Party (don’t give me crap about “a third party vote is a vote for Obama.” As far as I can tell, a vote for Romney is about the same as a vote for Obama...) depends entirely how Romney sounds like after his “etch ‘n sketch” reset.

As this is a well posted thread more than likely this will get lost in the noise but here it goes.

I view the Romney situation exactly like one which happened in Western New York.

In a NY State 145th district Assemblyman election Michael Kearns, running on the Republican ticket won defeating a Sheeeeeeeldon Silver endorsed dumbocrap.

Now for the rest of the story. Kearns is a dyed in the wool dumbocrap and even admitted it Thursday while meeting with Sheeeeeeeldon Silver. He stated he has always been a democrat and will continue to support the democrat agenda in the legislature.

Now it gets really creepy. Communist under the bed creepy. Progressive democrats (read: Marxists) in the legislature want Kearns to sign a loyalty oath to the dumbocrap party (not to his constituents of course).

So, will or can the people who elected him throw him out of office for being a complete fraud or is that just another definition of a politician?

People, this is straight out of the former Soviet Union.

It is obvious we do not even have a TWO party system just a communist government party with a left and right wing but both sides in bed with each other so as to retain power.

I would hope that those who advocate holding noses and voting for Romney don't get banned from FR. At the same time, I think it's very unlikely that I will vote for him. (I voted third party in 2008 in preference to McQueeg).

If mittens gets the nod, I am gonna self ban from FR, me, my wild rants and my quarterly donations, because I won't be singing and dancing, but I'll be voting for mittens.

FReepers are mostly pretty sharp politically, but many are prideful to a fault.

There is a load of childishness, masquerading as false conservative values, and since you voted for obama in the last election, you will feel justified doing it again.

Not me, I'll be going on down the road.

I think we are a decisive majority in the party, but when only half the pie is getting sliced into several pieces, the other half wins. I’ve stayed out of it for the past month or more, because the outcome was starting to look pretty obvious, and I would be happy with Newt or Rick. I guess it’s just politics these days. Everyone wants to be president, regardless of how inexperienced they are, or what kind of garbage they are dragging along. Why not? Look at Obozo.

There are millions of long-time Republicans who are voting for Romney because he's a dignified, executive-looking gentleman who speaks in soothing patriotic platitudes.

It’s going to be interesting alright. IMHO, we need to fight like banshees to continue the 2010 tea party congressional sweeps no matter who gets the presidential nomination. And, whether Romney, Santorum, Gingrich or Obama wins the election, we’re going to need strong tea party majorities in both houses of congress to hold their feet to the fire and to roll back government. Personally, I cannot and will not vote for abortionist big government Romney if he’s the one, but damn sure will turn out on election day to vote for any conservative Republicans down ticket.

It shouldn’t even be about the top job. We need to retake the senate and build in the house. If we do that, the Kenyan or the Masshole will follow. There is no leadership in the government. As much as I don’t think Sarah would have won, it would haveen nice to see someone keeping the message straight.

Oh my God. I just wrote that Sarah was better than these guys.....

Lol it’s just like every other presidential election.

Arguing, name calling and zots from above during the primary.

Then come threats to sit it out, accusations, more name calling and zots up until the election.

Then we complain about whatever who wins does and repeat it all again in four.

"It's going to get interesting at FR if Romney is nominated, innit??"

It will be interesting to see how much the "A-vote-for-a-third-party-is-a-vote-for-Obama" crowd will be tolerated.

I know for a fact I am not playing that game this year. I was suckered in last time and I swore it would be my last!

Not voting for Mitt, no way no how!

I lost my dear mother 5-1/2 months ago, my sweet kitty 1-1/2 months ago - will I lose my beloved republic 7-1/2 months from now?

I’ll do whatever I (legally) can to prevent that and I hope everyone else will as well. That means defeating The Wan who’s working to take America down by whatever means he deems necessary.

Wake up, my FRiends!

We have over 4 months to go & then, there is the convention. One step, one day at a time. None of us *really* knows what will happen. (The GOPe doesn’t either)
Do everything that you can for your candidate & have faith.

It's already interesting!

16 Reasons Why Mitt Romney Would Be A Really, Really Bad President

Teacher to college class: "After reading this list who still wants to vote for Romney?"

#1 Romneycare was what Obamacare was based on

#2 During his time as governor of Massachusetts, Mitt Romney significantly raised taxes.

#3 Government spending in Massachusetts increased significantly under Mitt Romney.

#4 It turns out that Mitt Romney is a believer in the theory of man-made global warming.

#5 If Mitt Romney becomes president, we may actually have "cap and trade" shoved down our throats.

#6 Mitt Romney had a horrible record of creating jobs while governor of Massachusetts.

#7 Mitt Romney was a very enthusiastic supporter of the Wall Street bailouts.

#8 If Romney becomes president, get ready for a flood of liberal judges.

#9 Mitt Romney is incredibly soft on illegal immigration.

#10 While he was governor, Mitt Romney received advice on global warming and carbon emissions from the man who is now the top science adviser to Barack Obama.  John P. Holdren, has some very, very disturbing ideas: he once wrote the following....

#11 Mitt Romney has been a huge supporter of gun control laws.

#12 Mitt Romney once claimed that he was more "pro-choice" than Ted Kennedy, but now he claims that he is pro-life.

#13 During this campaign season, Mitt Romney has stated that he only supports partnership agreements for gay couples and not gay marriage,

#14 As late as 2007, Mitt Romney was a member of the Republican Main Street Partnership.  The following is what romneyexposed.com says about this organization....

#15 According to the Huffington Post, Mitt Romney has raised more money from lobbyists than all of the other Republican candidates combined.

#16 Mitt Romney is a big time Wall Street insider.  It is estimated that Romney has a personal fortune of approximately a quarter of a billion dollars, and Wall Street money is being absolutely showered on his campaign.

And then there is this -- Romney is a member of a non-Christian cult, Mormonism:

Cults, Movements, World Religions
Sects and Satanic Cults
