Erika Faulk and her cousin, Gale Robinson, could have met up for a weekend spa retreat or planned a shopping excursion, but the two middle-aged, suburban moms opted for weekend learning to shoot guns, build campfires and track deer deep in the Ocala National Forest. Faulk, Robinson and about 100 other women were taking part in a three-day workshop called 'Becoming an Outdoors-Woman'. The program began two decades ago in Wisconsin and has spread to 40 states and Canada as a way to teach women the skills needed to enjoy outdoor activities.

Ugh...men hunt...fish...women stay in cave ugh...
I grew up hunting and fishing with my Grandfather, thankfully he was the strong man in my life while I was growing up, my parents were divorced. I now hunt with my husband, our daughter hunts & fishes. Her female friends hunt & fish. I’m sure her future husband will enjoy hunting & fishing with her.
Ok men out there...would you like your wife to be able to hunt & fish with you? I’m sure there are women who I would not like to hunt with, there’s also men who I would never hunt & fish with.
“I disagree. I can shoot (never been hunting though) and fish a great deal. I am not masculine by any means. Hunting, fishing, camping etc... gets you outdoors and you enjoy nature. Plus, I can bake/broil/fry any fish that I catch (and clean it as well). I dont find this masculine but just another part of who I am.”
+1
I love to shoot, am a pistol instructor and would love to give hunting a try/I began flyfishing a couple of years ago and truly enjoy wading the mountain streams and rivers.
There is nothing wrong with being a girly girl who also enjoys outdoor recreation.
“There is nothing wrong with being a girly girl who also enjoys outdoor recreation”.
ABSOLUTELY!! I went pier fishing once and struck up a conversation with an older gal (I’d say in her mid 80’s) who was out there by herself. She told me that her husband (who was now deceased) dated her and some other young women BUT knew she was the ONE because she was quiet when they fished together and caught more (and didn’t brag!). It was a cute story and she still goes fishing to remember when they went together and together as a family. Once the outdoor activities like fishing/hunting/shooting gets into your blood... there is no turning back!
Plus, "There ain't nuthin' finer than a naked (or fully clothed, for that matter) woman with a gun"
You are right! My Grandmother’s killed/plucked/cooked their own chickens. (they were very feminine as well). It seems silly to me that someone would rather starve then capture, kill, clean and cook a fish. I don’t see any difference than plucking tomatoes off a vine to go with dinner and catching a fish to go with the tomatoes. It really is providing food for one’s family which women have been doing for a LONG time.
who are THEY...(I think the THEY who do not are in the minority)
not me and the wife....not my kids... not my friends kids...we made them join boyscouts, we included them in activities...we taught them right from wrong...
I dont know how often I laid the law down on my boys...
...and on the leftist school principals who had their heads up their rears...I straightened out a few of these idiots too.
teach your kids a mode of behavior and you should have no problems.
I dont expect gutter trash to raise their kids any other way than gutter trash. repectable people, should be teaching their kids the way they were raised....
I think it is sexy and hot as h*ll when women are into extreme sports. Boxing, climbing, martial arts. etc.
This is no longer the 1950's (in a good way in this case) when women are allowed to do interesting stuff other than needle point and sewing.
My wife doesn't hunt, but did so growing up. I do not hunt, never have. When we were dating and she told me she could dress a deer, I thought it must take a lot of skill to get a deer to hold still while you put clothes on it, but didn't really see the point.
You would not like my GF then. She is a hardcore weightlifter-that is how we met. She was my lifting partner and we were friends for a long time before becoming lovers. She is stronger than the average male, her arm are well defined and sexy toned (but not to the gross level). She also runs marathons and we spent 10 days hiking a portion of the Appalacian Trail last year carrying 60-70 lbs packs each.
Women that do men stuff rock and I can assure you my GF is ALL woman and she is my best friend. I can't tell you how many men have come up to me and said they would like to have a GF like mine instead of ones that just jab all day on Facebook.
LoL! Them buggers are pretty fast!
Sounds to me like you found a gem, trailhkr1!! She is your best friend AND shares your interests.... Good for you!!
How very condescending you are! If I called you what I believe you to be I’d be banned!
Maybe you should take up boxing and get all tough?
“repectable people, should be teaching their kids the way they were raised....”
Less and less of this group around. Everyone demands their due without earning it. Money and education seem to mean less and less as they act like sophisticated gutter trash.
You are correct. It starts and ends in the home. This is why all education should be run by locals not the state or DC.
“would you like your wife to be able to hunt & fish with you?”
Heck no - that would mean I’d have to hunt and fish.
Ya..my husband just HATES it when I drag him out to hunt. I also drag him out to go golf too! He REALLY hates that, Lol! Actually we golf together in golf tournaments :-)
Fortunately, my wife doesn’t fish or hunt. Unfortunately, she doesn’t golf, either, although she does tolerate me golfing.
