You might have missed it but the federal government's employment base was shipped out to various places in the United States well over 100 years ago.
In fact, in the late 1800s the Post Office Department was actually operated from Chicago and only 3 employees worked at Post Office Department Headquarters in Washington DC.
Virtually all federal government employees are part of their local communities.

The unlawful actions of the various Federal agencies under Obama has been well documented here. Some in the hinterlands may ultimately not go along, but I’m still waiting for it to happen. Certainly not going to put any faith in it.
