I know what you mean, I am continually amazed at how people sitting at their computer can viciously attack people they know nothing about.

Serious question: Is that even a possibility in British royal tradition? There's certainly a long history of career military service among the nobility and even monarchies of Germany and some other European countries, but I'm quite aware that the British royals are not exactly free to do whatever they want. My impression is that while a short period of military service has been normal for male royals in Britain, there hasn't been someone in the royal family making a career of military service, at least not for many centuries dating back before the development of modern military concepts and separation of civilian and military authority.
