....and another thing......men usually have dogs because dog people must be needed. Men are much more needy than women. Women survive just fine alone. Men don't---and the dog greeting them at the door is a need that has to be filled for dog people, usually guys. Girls are usually cat people because we don't need the adoration and neediness like that. We can be alone and not feel depressed because someone is not drooling waiting for us at home.

BTW, it's also obvious that all this neediness is the Liberal trait and the cool cat people who are 'aloof' are obviously Conservative.

Actually,

the neediness is MUCH MORE related to

the degree of early childhood

ATTACHMENT DISORDER.

This is the best book I know on the topic:

Attachments: Why You Love, Feel, and Act the Way You Do

http://www.amazon.com/Attachments-Why-You-Love-Feel/dp/0785297375/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1331399651&sr=8-1

When children don’t receive SUFFICIENT-FOR-THE-INDIVIDUAL emotional bonding and love the first 6 or so years of life, the neediness holes never get filled and may even tend to get bigger. True for men and women. They show it differently.

As a psychologist . . . I’d probably say that over 30+ years of counseling and teaching . . . more women CAME ACROSS AS desperately needy than men.

Men are loathe to appear needy—particularly desperately needy—regardless of how needy they are. Men turn their neediness inward or to addictions or physical work or hobbies or sports.

FWIW
