Every case I have read about on FR for the last few days involving a dog shooting could have been avoided with a well placed shot or Bear Spray instead of a bullet(s). Cost's less and is safer too.
Bear spray is effective too. From what I understand it has NEVER failed to stop all types of bear attacks with NO failure recorded failures. For about $30 it would defend against a pack of wolves (if you needed to stop that many canidae and you would still have several other shots/sprays left over for polar bears.
Certainly would stop a 59 lbs dog from doing anything similar. Case closed, NO dogs killed No shots needed. No citizens endangered.
