Rove is right. Palin had a great opportunity to be a serious political player by finishing her term as governor of Alaska and studying up in the several areas where her knowledge of domestic and world affairs were glaringly deficient.

Rather than doing the long and difficult work needed to become a solid politician on the national stage, Palin went the easy route - turning herself into a political gadfly...sort of a conservative counterpart to Ariana Huffington. Book deals, cable reality shows, Fox News contributor, speaker for hire.

Palin went for the quick and easy money. She will never again run for any significant political office, though she will certainly tease about it as she is currently doing. Do not be fooled.

None of this makes Palin a bad person but it does brand her as a person whose political endorsement will matter only to a relatively small slice of the electorate.

You got to be kidding!!! Either you are blind and deaf or just despised Palin

Sarah had a no win situation in Alaska...her enemies were bankrupting her family with the frivolous lawsuits to no end and when she tried to get a legal defense fund, the law firm that represented Barrack Obama step in to block her from doing that. Of course the Republican Establishment in Alaska didn’t help her because they were mad about her exposing their own corruptions.

Second, Sarah has laid out a 5 point military plan, A five point economic plan and has expounded on the role of the U.S relations to China long ago in a speech in Hong Kong.

She did many of this before most of the future GOP candidates at that time laid out a plan

Wow, that was some screed about Palin.

She didn’t do the hard work,eh?

Her work in support of the Tea Party in the 2010 mid-terms enabled the Weeper to get his gavel back.

No other Republican leaders lifted a finger to do that or did as much as she did.How many of them went to Tea Party events or identified with them?

The easy route? It’s called being in a place to wield influence on the issues of the day. You know, like when the President of the United States has to personally respond to the content of your FACEBOOK posts. If you don’t have a national presence, it is tough to influence anything from Wasilla, AK.

Of course it escaped Tokyo Rove’s notice that there was no official endorsement of Newt, only an admission of who she voted for and why, mainly because he hates hates strong conservative women, and couldn’t get to the whiteboard fast enough.

Any argument that begins with "by finishing her term" means you don't know the half of it.

They had a system there in Alaska where just anyone could file an ethics complaint against the Governor with no evidence and the Governor had to answer it.

Several anti-Palin activists (I gather representing oil interests) filed a stream of baseless ethics complaints against her. The cost swelled to unconscionably high levels ~ way beyond her salary range.

That's why she resigned.

So, yes, she's still a player whose opinion counts ~ finishing her term in office showed she knows how to cut losses because that Legislature wasn't going to fix the law.
