Actually a good bit of their album “Headquarters” was written by them.
i believe you are talking about 'head', not 'headquarters.'
a psychedelic album and a movie, both of which bombed. mike nesmith and jack nicholson edited the music - and much of the album was dialogue snippets and sound effects. after head, tork left the monkees.
before 'head' was 'headquarters.' that's the album for which dolenz wrote 'randy scouse git' (and nesmith wrote 'and you just may be the one,' a song i truly enjoy and on which glenn campbell played - but he played on everything in studio back then) - the recording sessions on which the monkees first provided a substantial part of the instruments themselves.
