In the comments section of your link, somebody named “deshawn” is claiming to be the brother of the dead perp, and making threats to the “rednecks”, “crackers” and “racists” who are happy that his bro got shot.

I really don’t care if it happened in 2007 or 1997 or 1957, it’s still good reading material and there’s still one less punk off the streets. Some of us missed the story when it first came out. It’s nice to know that it’s been brought to our attention...: )

The bad guys aren’t the only ones packing heat anymore.

The more that is repeated, the better. Society might almost become polite again - except for the leftist "intellectuals".

That movie was a disappointment.

In the end, Eastwoods character caved in to the Liberal line, only Big Government has the authority to grant and protect our rights.

The character sent the hoodlums to court in a county and state that has been under the thumb of Big Unions, Big Liberals, and Big Media for more than 50 years. The result is a total corrupt judicial system.

The judge undoubtedly released the thugs in time for supper.

F**k the “families.”

They need to be shot as well.

The 71-year-old retired Marine....

Sheesh. The media certainly loves the "former-Marine" shtick in the headlines.

The only thing this story needs now is the word "mom" sprinkled around.

Proving once more,...it’s not smart to mess with a Marine. Once a Marine always a Marine.

Oh puh-leeze. It doesn't take a Marine to shoot a punk with a pistol.

More and more I am thinking that the cops should grab the families of these perps and prosecute them as accessories and for receiving stolen goods (they’re bound to been given SOME of the loot...).

Failing that, their neighbors should consider tarring and feathering them and running them out of town on a rail.

These families aid the criminals. They withhold information. They provide support and hide the criminals. Of course they should be prosecuted. Why aren’t they?

After robbing the cashier, the two men attempted to shove Mr. Lovell into a bathroom and rob him as well. They got his money; but then Mr. Lovell pulled his handgun and opened fire. He shot one of the thieves in the head and chest; the other in the head.

LOL Get some, Marine!

Detective Rettig said. "These criminals ought to realize that most men in their 70's have military backgrounds, and aren't intimidated by idiots."

ROTFL Good for you, Detective Rettig. Get the word out!

The families are upset. They feel he had ‘no right’ to take the law into his own hands.

Screw them. They need to pony up for damages, court and police costs and funeral expenses for their dead thug.

You're right, one doesn't have to be a Marine to do what this gentleman had to do. However, you're very unlikely to see someone without military or police experience get headshots on two armed perps and get away clean. His military experience played a huge role.

It's one thing to spend months at the range perfecting your shot. It's something completely different to face an armed opponent (or two) to the death.

>>...The families are upset. They feel he had ‘no right’ to take the law into his own hands...<<

Someone should point out to the grieving family that he *didn’t* take the law into his own hands, he simply defended himself against two worthless, stupid and brutal animals who were threatening his life. FURTHER that the families would be well advised to sit down and shut up lest their public humiliation from having been shown to be utterly miserable and absolute failures as parents be exacerbated by their idiotic protestations. Would it be a fair bet that they are lawyering-up to sue someone/anyone/everyone?

You’ll have to excuse me, I’m not feeling very charitable tonight.

He is not expected to be charged authorities said.

LOL!
What, the genius "authorities" think this old Marine may have somehow been in on the robbery and they have to clear him first?
Good grief..
