I don’t think they’re necessarily disgusting, but they are off-putting. I tend to go with Matthew 6:6, where Christians are told to pray in secret and not make a spectacle — show off their (supposed) spirituality. Making a big production of praying in public is what the Pharisees did, and we’re told not to do that. It’s tacky, and done to get attention... IMHO.
My dad (the preacher) wasn’t thrilled with my opinion, but... oh, well.
So, what was Rick to tell the pastors? “No”? That would be crude and ungrateful.
