CHUCK NORRIS: Why I chose Newt over Santorum
WND.COMMENTARY ^ | : 7 days ago | Chuck Norris

Posted on 02/19/2012 10:12:12 AM PST by PSYCHO-FREEP

In 2008 when my wife, Gena, and I were on the campaign trail backing former Arkansas Gov. Mike Huckabee for president, former Pennsylvania Sen. Rick Santorum was fighting to get former Massachusetts Gov. Mitt Romney elected.

Just three years ago in his interview with radio host and conservative commentator Laura Ingraham, Santorum also emphatically told millions of listening Americans: “If you’re a conservative, if you’re a Republican, there is only one place to go, and that’s Mitt Romney.

Yet Santorum now admits that Romney “bragged he’s even more liberal than Ted Kennedy on social issues.”

And the question that keeps coming to my mind now is this: How can the “alternative to Romney” also be a Romney supporter? (SNIP)

However, in light of the potential global clash outside our country with regimes like Iran and Syria, and the ongoing domestic assault within our country from the Obama administration, we believe America needs the best of the best veterans of political war to lead us forward.

We truly believe Newt’s experience, leadership, knowledge, wisdom, faith and even humility to learn from his failures (personal and public) can return America to her glory days. And he is the best man on the battlefield who is able to outwit, outplay and outlast Obama and his billion-dollar campaign machine.

(SNIP)

It’s no wonder in January that Rep. Ron Paul accused Santorum of having a “very liberal” political record.

I’m also bringing this up now because, if Santorum were to win the nomination, Obama will definitely bring this up in his campaign for the presidency.

And the question that keeps coming back to my mind about Santorum is: How can the “alternative to Romney” also be a Romney supporter?

Newt has way too much baggage to win.

I disagree. At this point, we need someone who has the guts to radically change the direction of government. People are beyond caring about "personal baggage".

As long as Newt continues to express his outrage at the current state of things, rather than engage in soundbite political speak, people will be fired up.

We need someone who will speak plainly about how we really feel, and Newt does that. That is why he did so well after the debate when he got angry with John King. People ARE angry, and we want someone with that kind of fire.

Santorum is bland and forgettable. People who are on the cusp of disinterest regarding politics will certainly not be engaged enough by Santorum to get out and vote.

I think Chuck could use a nice roundhouse kick from Rick.

To wake him up.

Good Post. Chuck Norris is a great American. The reason I like Newt is.....The liberals are scared of him and they hate him, the Democrats are scared of him and they hate him, The established Republicans are scared of him and they hate him, the Wall Street gang is scared of him and they hate him. We don’t like any of these groups, therefore, the enemy of my enemies is my friend. Thus, Newt Gingrich is our friend. Vote for Newt, He WILL shake things up.

Did ya see the post here yesterday and the rumors even at CPAC that it is a done deal, Santorum-Romney or Romney Santorum? Yes, they are rumors and they are dangerous, but tangent to this is the next Debate, they wanted it cancelled because "the 2" didn't want to go mano-e-mano against Newt again because of what they have to loose. Is what the the EGOP wants to hand us?

In my primary I won't vote for either. I will vote for they best Conservative even if they loose at this point, I'd rather go down swinging...

Because in 2008, the horrible choices were McCain, Romney or Huckabee. I could just as easily point out the faults of supporting Huckabee.

True. All three were almost equally as bad. You and I would not fault one for holding their nose and picking one of the three, even if it was Mitt.

But that wasn't Rick's point-of-view in 2008.

Rick was all in for Mitt as he said the following...

Looking at this photo from 2008, you be the judge:

Pelosi: We don’t always see eye to eye, do we, Newt?
Gingrich: No, but we do agree, our country must take action to address climate change.

[Go ahead and post a stupid list of Santorum’s voting record...I’ll then post a picture of Newt and Nancy giving credibility to Global Warming.]

Don't you worry one bit. The Reverend slick Rick's voting record does matter, and add that to the his habit of being divisive and shooting his mouth off without a brain attached, especially when he is in the hot seat, and you have a guaranteed loser.

I agree with Chuck Norris completely.
I WANT a Washington insider who knows where the bodies are buried and who is willing to do whatever it takes to win. This is no time for “on the job training”.

Go Newt!

And if he picks the "Vetted" ( L_rd knows she has been) Sarah Palin as VP we call all watch their flippen heads explode and enjoy it. Even if they loose it would be the most Conservative ticket in eons and Newt would have more friggen volunteers than he knew what to do with...

Look the country is so FUBAR'd right now we need Strong Medicine, look at Newt's platform and what he wants to do in the 1s day.

Santorum Romney are just a 81 mg aspirin, not strong medicine at all...

Rush Limbaugh said on 17 FEB 2012:

“The Republican establishment, for the most part, if they could, would simply excommunicate every social conservative Republican they could find. They’d kick ‘em out of the party, and they would gag ‘em”

I see Rush has seen the light.

"Newt has way too much baggage to win."

I've heard this for more than a decade. What is it specifically?

I'm aware of his divorces, his supposed "ethics violations", and his embrace of the climate change issue. What else?
